Was it funnier back in the 90s or was it ever funny?
-
Looks like these libs took enough weeks off to get creative again to bash the right. Pretty awesome.
-
star studded.
-
someone who makes me uncomfortable central for sure
-
Last night's was really good!

Last night's was really good!
When you have Oscar and Grammy winners on same show you know you have huge juice.
-
It was nectured with juicy someone who makes me uncomfortable tears. That's for sure.
-
You just got wacky world, bub! When can we crush beers/heaters soon? @Dugout DickStone
-
Watching mullany SNL now...pretty funny. Like him a lot.
-
I've always liked him. The weekend update was so out of their way to hate on trump it was adorable.
-

This is the best
-
It was so snowflakey they showed it live at 8:30 and then again at the regular 11:30 time slot in CA.
-
I love liberal shows.

I love liberal shows.
Don't watch Roseanne. It is basically a Trump family making America great again.

"The fun of 'Saturday Night Live' was always you never knew which way they leaned politically," he told the Daily News. "You kind of assumed they would lean more left and liberal, but now the cat's out of the bag they are completely against Trump, which I think makes it less interesting because you know the direction the piece is going."
-
I saw that Colin Jost and Michael Che were selected to cohost the Emmys. Can't wait for the boycotts!!
-
It's horrible how many feelings snl has hurt :frown:
-
Oh deuce Bigelow got his feelings hurt

Damn, what will SNL do now that their all-time biggest star Rob Schneider is speaking out against them?
-
They should have Kanye host
-
Haven't watched snl since I got a DL. Only loser cretins sit at home watching tv on saturday night.

Bruh ever heard of the internet?
-
I think what has hurt the most about this Trump Presidency is seeing my guy @steve dave fall so far off the fence to the left. He use to be the voice of reason. :frown:
Also, Kanye West should win the award this year for Most hurt feelings. What a beautiful troll job he's done.
-
We should go to the old SNL thread and see whose feelings were hurt by the last Kanye appearance

Calling wack a loser cretin in his own thread. Pretty intense rage

Accurate
-
Did you watch Weekend Update? Thanks, car rough rider.
-
Yeah, heard about that guy this week, he was high af on something.
-
Missed it, were feelings hurt?
-
Yes, several lefty cast members lashed out their rage of losing the election again. :frown:
-
why keep watching if it hurts your feelings so much Wacks?
-
It doesn't hurt my feelings at all. I like comedy. :dunno:
-
I’m not enraged and I am watching it
-
Being enraged over a comedy show would be pretty silly. I just hate watching the same act over and over. Makes it not funny. :frown:
-
Don’t let them see you enraged wack, that’s what they want
-
I just laugh at how hard they try. It's delightful.

You gotta to pretend you aren’t so mad or they basically win. I mean they have won already bevause rich/famous but beyond that...
Trump has made many ppl wealthy. That is definitely true.
-
Is Alec Baldwin an actual cast member? I didn't realize his career had taken such a dive.
-
Yes, he is.
-
Also, don't call him a cast member. Liberal heads will spin when you do that.
-
He's just whatever you call a person that shows up to the show every week to perform and make tons of $ off Trump's liklieness. That's all.
-
What's the likelihood that's true
-
-
Alec Baldwin rage is pretty great
-
I agree. Libs hate that he's called a cast member.
-
Man I didn’t think Wacky had another SNL meltdown in him but here we are
-
That's not what's happening here.
-
Censoring(deleting) posts = not melting down
-
imagine getting mad at SNL skits and trying to degrade comics playing a role....weird world rn.

:nono:
-
I don’t know the man but I’d bet he loves that he makes old white midwesterners lose their mind
-
Lol at these cast of losers in this thread who don't even watch the show

Most ppl do, friend.
-
Who the eff cares if Alec Baldwin is called a cast member? Not seeing that outrage anywhere out there anywhere. DGAF. He really should be, because he's on every week so that would be a great honor for him, as it would anyone. I'm wondering if sometimes he does stuff pre-recorded or via satellite from somewhere other than New York? Like on the ones where Trump is doing phone calls and not physically interacting with any of the cast members. Dunno.

They didn't have enough time to run this gem this week, because they had to air more Trump stuff. Sad. :frown:

I don't know how you parody someone as bizarre as Trump and make it funny.
-
You just make a million skits of him and see what sticks, obviously.
-
there IS a significant glut of comedic material
-
You just make a million skits of him and see what sticks, obviously.
I didn't watch all of saturdays show yet (stopped at weekend update) but was there more than the 1 cold open skit? I mean that doesn't equate to a million skits for a 90 minute show.?

If you didn't see how the dirty talk skit was a liberal attack by the coastal elite on Trump's America then you weren't paying enough attention
-
 So enraged.
-
The opening was like half the show and then of course you've got weekend update, which I shouldn't have to explain to you what that's all about. I'm very happy that they've found a certain audience. An enraged one at that, that needs a safe space to laugh after losing the election.

I'm a devout SNL dvr guy.
Glad you can keep watching despite them hurting your feelings....most people watching a comedy show can relax a bit even if they tell a joke that hits close to home. Proud of you.

I'm #1 SNL viewer on this blog. I'm a huge comedy fan. I've never been more relaxed. Not shocked you don't know wtf is happening here tho. :(

It's honestly the easiest thing to spot, EVER!
-
You should reconsider your viewership if half the show upsets you

No way, it's free lol's.

True, it may be the funniest season in decades

Awesome to hear you didn’t get sad! I’m excited to watch
-
Yeah, zero hurt feelings.
-
I still can't believe anyone under the age of 40 watches this show.
-
Jesus man, get over it.
-
MASH also sucked and wasn't funny, ftr
-
There are a ton of not funny shows. Snl just isn’t one of them
Honestly Cheers didn’t have a ton of clever jokes for its ratings. Cliff might have been only one with some good lines but I was like 5 so who knows
-
SNL hasn't been funny in like 15 years. The writing is awful.
-
Lots of olds think that
-
Given olds represent nearly all the viewers, highly doubtful
-
No one likes angry old men
-
i.e., Alec Baldwin
-
This week was pretty forgettable. Enjoyable, but not as good as last week
-
we need a thread where the old dudes on this board break down Taxi v. Barney Miller

Nobody is stopping you

-
Serious question? Do you think Schumer stopped talking politics since she totally balked at leaving the country after Trump was elected?
-
The cocaine guy?

The comedian who hosted this week. :dunno:

I need to watch.

Not sure. I always fast forward through the music parts.

I don’t think it was.
-
Last nights episode was very forgetful
-
Is mortal kombat a culture?

Yes, but Chun Li was in Street Fighter.
-
That's what I said
-
So is it ok to culturally appropriate something if you are appropriating it from someone/thing that has already appropriated it?

So is it ok to culturally appropriate something if you are appropriating it from someone/thing that has already appropriated it?
There is no such thing as cultural appropriation in America, so you can do whatever you want.

You guys might be the only ones watching the show . Leo didn’t win an Oscar until he got half eaten alive by a bear. Trump thanks you guys tho for your attention tho! Go SNL! My favorite stand up live comedy is in America! Pretty much why I made this thread, because I’m ahead of the curve.

Interesting...

I mean they are to blame in that Colin Jost and Michael Che are pretty bad Update hosts and have very little chemistry compared to other Update hosts who tag-teamed it, yeah.

Every SNL character that's ever existed ran the whole show, bud. It was their Emmy Awards. :dunno:

That makes no sense.

Lorne Michaels was in charge of the Emmy's this year, so it had a bunch of SNL presenters and Hosts, and shitty skits. You get it now?

-
:dunno: Not hard to understand, but ok.
-
I see. That's gotta suck after SNL whipped record levels of ass just last season.

Thanks, Trump! :D

Thanks also hilarious comedians

I enjoyed it, but I was faced and don't remember much of it.

Try and rewatch it sober if you can. I thought it was a bit awkward for about 90% of it. I do like to PAK when I watch stand up tho, so I totally get it.
-
The most recent episode with John Mulaney hosting (3 times already!) and David Byrne as musical guest was very good. Once In A Lifetime is one of my favorite songs of OAT.

I always just Fast Forward right through the music performances. Problem solved. Also, yes, I enjoy JM also.

I love that song too. The performance caused me to go on rapgenius and read the interpretations of the lyrics. They were all over the place. That site has gone downhill.

Never heard of it. Might check it out today.

It's on Hulu. Highly recommend. Not a comedy, so make sure to watch it when you're in the mood for a drama, not something to make you laugh.

just catching up on the season premiere. chris rock nailed the monologue, no big surprise though.
how was last night's episode?

Bill Burr and Jack White were great.

No particularly great bits but I appreciate that it seemed a bit bolder at times.

I enjoyed the couples on the deck and the mafia. I liked where the sports show was going but it didn't quite hit. The cold open was about as bad as it gets.
These have been my SNL hot takes

I caught up on this episode last night. Burr's monologue was good. Jack White melted my face off. I've never seen anyone set up their drums like that??

seriously it sounded like the covid lyrics were written by a third grader

I don't remember a single word, and I thought he and his band kicked ass. He's not the typical artist you see on SNL, so I gotta give them (SNL) props. However, I'm told that he was a last-minute replacement act, so I'm also going to take away half of those props.

Like, I thought they were very good at what they did (kicked ass?), I just thought the songs were boring. I saw Jack with the Raconteurs once and thought he was amazing.
The best SNL musical performance was Kanye, Chance, and company doing Ultralight Beam

obviously kanye is the worst part but everyone else is soooooo good

I haven't found any of their political stuff funny in a long time and this was no exception. The lone bright spot, imo, was getting to see Jim Carrey play an over the top caricature.
-
I laughed.

-
Can absolutely confirm that Jack White was incredible, songs weren't boring (who TF was listening to the lyrics?), faces were melted, and his drummer sets up his drums extremely weird. Have NEVER seen that.
I must say after two eps I am not into Jim Carrey as Joe Biden. It's just missing the mark for me, but that's fine. I did appreciate that the cold open got weeeeeird with it this week, but I still didn't find myself LOLing that much. I'm not some cyclistcat who always insists SNL's not as good as it was back in my day. But I think this show and this cast need some time to get fleshed out and get back into its groove. I'm confident it will. Haven't laughed much at all in the first two eps, but maybe that's just me.
We're a bunch of year in now; where have we landed on Che and Jost as Update hosts? I was fully not on board at first because it didn't feel like they had a ton of chemistry, but I think I've grown to really appreciate them. Not my faves of all-time or anything though.

Finally catching up. Chapelle is 100% the goat, but did they really show mass rallies after Biden’s win and pass on a covid joke? Yikes!
-
Can we just all agree how far left this show has become? I don’t want to get banned from my own board, but Jesus. Happy Biden won tho!
-
Wacky, can you entertain the thought that the show hasn't become "far left" but your ideology has moved right? I don't know how political leanings work in comedy designed for mass consumption, I mean the president gets made fun of whether he's a liberal or conservative.
Even if you think this show is some lib paradise, it's literally been run by the same dude for the entirety of your life. Lorne Michaels has always been a New York lib.
-
I honestly think you’re a google search away from seeing how far left they’ve become. I honestly don’t care, I’ll continue to watch, because I love comedy. I just can’t believe how far Lauren has committed to the act. Ppl are over the political crap and you just start noticing stuff like this as a advocate follower like myself. I generally record it and watch it Sunday evening, like an adult. It was a fine episode. Pretty boring but not bad and Japanese Breakfast was great.
Wacky constantly cheering for things that have absolutely nothing to do with him to go poorly is pretty fascinating. Along with hatewatching TV at 11:30pm Eastern on a Saturday night
-
Side note I went to a recording of the Amber Ruffin show (Peacock) at Rockefeller Center. It was on the same floor where they record SNL and was cool to see.
(wacky don't watch amber Ruffin you would hate it)

No I use LinkedIn for work all the time and find it pretty useful!

Classic libs are doing their best to cheer along this shitty product that started to plummet the moment they got woke. I also find it super adorable that MIR is defending the ratings, when he use to post their successful ratings on here. Go woke, go broke, folks! #facts.com

I also record it, no way in hell am I watching a 90 minute TV show live at 10:30 on a Saturday night, lol. I've been recording SNL since the 90's. Did not enjoy Japanese Breakfast. I didn't love the musical acts this year.
-
In just a year, MIR has changed his tune on if ratings are important or not for the show. You can't make this up.

lib7 use to listen to Rush daily and he lives on the Texas ags board, so not really. I like comedy. I wish they did more of it. :th_twocents: :th_twocents:

Also, lol, MIR. Your prime posting hours are between 3-4 am. Why are you trying to act like your insomnia ass just can't do 10:30 pm cst on Saturday night.

Watching it live is around 40% of the fun for me. My 13 year old makes popcorn on the stove for us and we watch it together. I also lived at 12th and vattier and college and would go out to the bars and then walk back home to watch snl and then walk back and rejoin everyone when it was over.
Someone-“where Daris go?”
Someone else-“probably back to his place to watch snl. He’ll be back soon.”
Another person probably-“oh well that’s totally normal and not weird at all”.

Help me out with something wacky, how does me posting that link means that I think ratings are important or unimportant? For the record I said neither. Stating that ratings are down for everything that's a live event isn't a statement of importance, is a statement of fact. Your goalpost gif is cute but either you misread multiple posts in your quest to be a heel, or you just built a whole ass strawman in your quest to be a heel.

I don't watch any network television, that isn't sports or an awards show live, not even the news. As I said, I stopped watching SNL live in high school, when I had better crap to do on Saturday nights.

Do these ratings take into account all the folks who just watch every sketch on YouTube on Sunday, Monday, etc.? Because that's ... a lot of folks.
-

Nope. Especially, late night network TV now tries to track how viral they are instead of their ratings. The ratings for the four weeknight shows are virtually non-existent but they pay these guys; Kimmel, Fallon, Colbert, and Corden for their ability to be viral. SNL is a bit different because it's weekly, they get more ad revenue, but for the most part the ability to go viral is much more important.

I thought the opening skit was pretty funny.

The precedent that could be set here is pretty significant. As an actor you are responsible for a prop gun handed to you is wild. A lot of these doofs won't even know how to check to see if it's loaded with actual bullets.
-
Sending him to jail is the least they can do for making SNL so unfunny for so many years.
-

Yeah, exactly this. The DA said she charged him because she talked to other actors and they supposedly always checked every time a weapon was in their hands or visually saw someone else check. There's no way that's true and I'm stunned that the DA was that gullible and actually went public with that reasoning. I'm also confused as to why she made it a point to talk about him being charged as a producer, because the set was not safe, but didn't charge the director as well.
Either way, it's an involuntary manslaughter charge, he won't spend a second in jail, and unless there's some other gross negligence that comes to light, the DA won't even ask for jail time.
-
So many Baldwin Fans in here. I never thought I’d see the day!

Wacky wants a guy to go to jail because his Trump impersonation wasn't good.

I just think it’s ironic he spent all of that energy hating someone he doesn’t know. No one is questioning his antics on scene, because of course, and he’ll spend more jail time than the dork he impersonated. Kinda hilarious!

Wacky, the DA already said she isn't seeking jail time.

K.why are you here then?
-
I don't think that anyone is defending Baldwin, it's more that it's a terrible idea to charge an actor for something that someone else is supposed to be handling.
-
It's important to note he's being held accountable as a producer on the film, not an actor.
-

In fairness, I haven't read anything about it because I don't care. I get it, cutting off the head of the snake thing, but the only person who really needs to be examined is the person in charge of the guns on set.
-
It's important to note he's being held accountable as a producer on the film, not an actor.
Yet, she didn't charge the director
-
a producer is a guy who raises/invests money. basic terminology. makes no sense to charge them.

SNL was really disappointing this past weekend, which was unfortunate because Aubrey Plaza was hosting. crap week for the writers and way too much George Santos.

I enjoyed the black lotus bit, but their obsession over people that lean right continues to hold them back unfortunately.

I liked the Taboo skit, although that may have mostly been because I had that idea years ago and wanted to see it in practice.

Yeah the Taboo and Black Lotus sketches were the only ones that had any redeeming value. I thought even weekend update was weak and I always love weekend update.
-
I went to a stand up show last Sunday with Devon Walker and Michael Longfellow (two new cast members). They told a few SNL nuggets and mostly tried joke and sketch ideas. It was interesting because they mentioned that new people on SNL aren't paid like crazy money but they're working with folks on the same job that have houses in the Hamptons and that leads to a bit of tension. There was at least one SNL writer there who was next to me in the back laughing and heckling them and now I feel like I am friends with folks on SNL.
The one potential sketch idea I remember was a setup where two athletes square up like they're about to fight but end up kissing instead. Imagine if they got LeBron to host and do that! (It won't happen but fun to think about). Anyway happy Tuesday
-
They stole that sketch idea from a black mirror episode!

I enjoy the Fly on the Wall podcast, mainly to just hear all the behind the scenes stories.
-

Yes!
-
I enjoyed the Aubrey Plaza episode because they did more sketches that were just plain weird. Some didn't work, as always, but at least they tried strange crap. Sam Smith was pretty entertaining as well, even if I didn't particularly care for the songs.
-
Sharon Stone distracted the hell out of me for his entire second song because I was trying to figure out who she was and why she was there, staring in the camera, the whole damn song.

I'm guessing he'll get another invite and now that they've seen how he commits, he'll get a wider range. The American Girl Doll Cafe character wasn't a himbo and it was maybe his best one.
