christian erikson is apparently ok, but that was very scary looking. can't believe the cameras kept rolling as he was getting CPR for like 13 minutes.
let's talk slovakia (wow!)
also this sweden spain match is p good for 0-0.
i need to see all the kits before i choose my team. finland is pretty hot. i really dislike belgium for some reason (2014 is the reason)
who you got?

Les Bleus
-
that Spain/Sweden game was kinda a wild 0-0, think Spain ended up with like 85% possession
-
Sverige!
-
Slovakia sit on top of Group E, and they're going to get an exhausted Swedish squad on Friday
-
i need to see all the kits before i choose my team.
ok it might be Austria with the black and teal (?) kits and talking WAY too much crap to adorable macedonia

Don't forget about Copa America, I'm currently watching a very fun Argentina vs. Chile match. It not as great given they decided to have this in rough ridin' Brazil, no fans, no scenes.

Die Mannschaft

sorry but there’s plenty of sports that I can root for right here in the red, white, and blue without having to force myself into cheering for a game (not sport) that had to steal its name from america’s #1 sport.
but don’t let me tell you what to cheer for, comrade
-
full capacity in budapest for hungary vs portugal.
headphones volume = UP!
-
portugal is normally pretty strong in the kit dept, but this is a bottom tier kit matchup
-
what % of the time does CR finish that? 95%? 99%?
-
oh my god hungary did not deserve that :frown:
-
what a cruel last five minutes
-
ooof
-
^^they played hard but portugal is clearly the better team
-
nobody irl murdered Pepe (how old is he?) on the field so the mission was a failure
-
i feel like that french defender should probably sit the rest of this one out. his head irl double doinked (xpost)

Guys this is random, but can soccer people quit with labeling a "group of death" for every goddamn tournament they have.
-
They can’t.
There’s always one

Especially in a competition like this one where 3/4 of group of death is likely to advance to the knockout round.
-
there is a very obvious GoD in this tornament but i actually haven't seen/heard anyone use that term (i haven't read a lot and i've just been watching the games)
-
the scenes at this denmark belgium game!
-
Felt inevitable once it fell to him, but incredible composure from Poulsen to slot that home. What a start and what an atmosphere
-
best game of the torn a ment so far. belgium at full strength are terrifying
-
is this MF'er Christian Fuchs really going on national TV as an Austrian wearing a black shirt with skulls on the collar? :sdeek:
-
can you upset alert a draw?
-
although eng-sco was probably close to as big of an "upset"
-
Germany has life!
-
Well well well, Germany had one more great match in them. They still need a draw against Hungary tho.
-
Hungary, congrats fighting sallois

-
This Denmark Russia game is an all-timer. My God!
-
That was absolutely glorious, wow
-
love to see it
-
Absolute scenes
-
that first spanish goal smh...was the gk trying to punch it over the bar?
-
Damn. I was almost right about Germany.
-
Sad to see Hungary go out like that.
-
Sad to see Hungary go out like that.
i know national teams are often less than the sum of their part, but that was a pathetic performance by GER...really didn't deserve anything

I don't think this is true, at all. Germany is just old, this core of players had a great run and this and probably the '22 works cup is the end of that run. The thing with countries like Germany is unlike Belgium, Greece, Iceland, and the United States is there is no golden generation. They get a group, ride them until they're done then toss them and start again.

i'm pretty casual, but haavertz, rudiger, werner etc as old? i dunno. there's hummels and maybe the goalie. who else?

^that's still close enough to prime to not look as shitty as they did, imo
-

They have looked shitty for quite a while even before this tournament, it's exactly why they were in the GOD, they were drawn into the third pot.
-

I agree with that, I was making the point that next World Cup will probably be the absolute end of the road for a good chunk of the core.

Yeah lol this is a great point.
-

-
Now I'm stuck in a Netherlands jersey the rest of the day after that performance and I have to go out in public.
-
holy crap holy crap holy crap
-
Loving this

-
What an absolute goal fest today :D
-
Pandemonium! France is OUT
-
What a day
-
Hope everyone had a lovely Soccer Christmas. See you tomorrow!
-
I hope the Germans score like 8 goals.
-
First the Netherlands now France
-
First the Netherlands now France
those Benzema and Pogba goals though :sdeek: two classics
-
what a treat we have lined up this morning (the world coming together once again to watch England fall on its collective face), and so close to July 4!
-
Conflicted with England. Love the players, love the country, hate their twitter fans
-
Nothing funnier in the world than English fans after they lose.
-
It will be even funnier when they finally slay their German demons and then lose to Sweden, Ukraine, Czech Republic, or Denmark
-
good grief
-
sounds like Group of Death was actually Group of Suck
-
oh no sverige :frown:
-
oh no sverige :frown:
that red card was interesting...was it just too reckless of a challenge even if he got ball and wasn't malicious?

Yeah anytime you have cleat on a planted knee it is pretty much straight red no matter what.

Grealish's hair looks so much like TLB Knightley's it almost has to be on purpose

Michael Oliver is a rough ridin' menace.

That was brutal, is he known for trash reds like that?
-
ok that goal was incred

Has a rep for being a look at me guy. I thought he was pretty bad outside of that red. The yellow at the end of extra time was just as trash and if Switzerland would have won that shootout it would have been very critical to their chances in the semifinal.

yes that one was weak also
-
bel-ita is a fun one!
-
bel-ita is a fun one!
did BEL look like the #1 team in the world? or close? i think this is their first game i watched this euro and i don't think so at all. i know e hazard was out.

Italy appeared to be clearly better, was annoyed by Adrian Healy, ESPN play-by-play guy, acting like Belgium is done forever, like they won't still be a top 10 team at the world cup in 16 months. He kept talking about a passing of the torch
-
screw it, LFG azzuri
-
strange game so far...evenly matched but more attacking opportunities than usual on both sides...very up and down it seems to me...neither team being conservative
-
weak penalty
-
weak penalty
exactly
-
i swear i could come up with like 20 rule changes to fix this almost good sport.
-
one rule change is they need one or more penalties that fall in between the "has absolutely no impact on the game or players involved in any way" and "like 80% chance it decides the game".
-
sweet caroline, lmfao

-
That was a quick opening strike!
-
i can't believe the first score on a corner kick in the history of the sport occurred in the euro final.
-
Those goalies must be praying for the game to end in extra time so that they don't have to endure all of the pressure with penalty kicks.
-
Shootouts are so boring
-
well the tactic to bring in pk takers at the end backfired spectacularly...as did the tactic of putting the pressure on a 19-yo to take kick #5...
didn't italy also bring zaza(?) in especially for pks where he missed that very funny one, however many years ago?
-
Sancho and/or Rashford should've come on half an hour earlier, not just for penalties.
-
Definitely the funniest way for England to lose it.
-
I'm not a soccer fan but love watching the euro/world cup, just something different about watching two countries go at it.
I didn't watch any of the south America tournament except for the Argentina/Brazil final and that seemed like a more watchable brand of soccer than most the Euro games I watched.
My soccer strategy is limited to being an average FIFA player but it seems like the Brazil/Argentina game they were constantly moving up and down the field while most euros just slowly pass the ball back and forth up the field.
-
I do love the last 20 minutes or so of a knockout match and one team is down a goal and the pressure starts to build.
-
Sterling had an outstanding tournament but man he completely disappeared in the final. What happened?
-
I don't think he played well.

I watched quite a bit of Argentina//Colombia and it was a blast to watch, too.
Italy was ok to watch today but England just kinda quit attacking when they got up a goal
-

ref was not going for his flops, even when they were semi-legit...reaction to the denmark game my guess

Yep
