Anyone else been to Big Rip brewery in NKC? Went last night and last Friday to taste some of their brew.  Some of their stuff is pretty darn good and I enjoy tasting stuff you can't get anywhere else.  Small operation that I hope succeeds and gets bigger.

Sam Adams pisses me off,  they're already advertising their Alpine Spring.   It's like 20 degrees out, which clearly calls for a spring seasonal.

It's not them. It's the distributors. Liquor stores are getting spring seasonals in last week and this week and we'll almost assuredly be out by the 2nd week of march.

No,  it's Sam Adams.   They insist on pushing out their season also earlier and earlier,  forcing the other breweries to follow suit.  For example,  New Belgium produced a fall seasonal that was closer to an ipa than an Octoberfest last year because they had to put something out but didn't want to produce a fall beer to be distributed in early August.

just grabbed a 12er of octoberfest and felt kinda like a schmuck as i headed toward the checkout.  my justification was that it was cool out and football games are going on.  still feel like part of the problem though :frown:

If you like IPAs in part because you float after drinking about 3 of them, dont try the new Bully low abv IPA.

goEMAW friends,

I will be going to a beer drinking establishment in a hipster(ish) part of Dallas this evening and would like to not embarrass my midwestern self by ordering a bud light.  Please help.

Live Oak Liberation.  Talk about wanting to try the local flavor, and then lightly praise the beer, focusing on one specific aspect of its flavor as very good or being deficient.  Be a little condescending if you can.  E.g. "Pretty good.  It's a little over-hopped, but has some real nice malt undertones."  Up your hipster factor by asking what kind of hops are in some random beer they have, then saying "no thanks".

I second this! The Founders folks are pleasantly surprising me every time they release a new beer.

So i've been making beer a while now, but i just finished my first batch that i can say i honstly and with no reservations like, and wanted to share it with you fine wild wild cats

Its a full grain recipe porter, aged 4 weeks with some oak chips for a woodsy vanilla flavor and topped off with a half pint of Bulleit Bourbon for the four and a half gallon batch.

Meaningful Royals baseball and Oktoberfest.  Who would of thunk it?
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

When do you guys drink your expensive ($10+) beers?  I want to drink my Bourbon Barrel Quad, but I don't want to just cash it on a random tuesday. Is that weird?

Guess I'm getting to be an old bastard. I like to drink the ten dollar six packs all the time. If I want to get a big buzz, I'll slam some bourbon and sip on my snob beer.
