To be fair, the American people have chosen their own path in many cases.  There are exceptions like all those elderly people that were put to death by cuomo.
Yeah everyone except New York nursing home residents got the virus because of their individual choices

You’re right.  Those who think they aren’t immunocompromised or think it’s a hoax or are willing to take chances etc (including your friends by your own admission)  have opted to kill others, so American people haven’t necessarily chosen their own path but American people are at fault.

the people my friends kill don't necessarily choose their path any more than the nursing home people

Tuscaloosa bars shut down for 2 weeks.

UA says they'll test 1,000 students a week.  UAB-M already tested all AL college students.

Big wins here for CoronaBro Nation.

UIUC seems to have a good plan in place. 30k saliva tests/week. Have projections assuming kids will party. interesting thread:

where is production of the saliva test to make it feasible across the country?

Unlike meat, this is not a national security priority. Stop the testing and this gets better.

there's good info here:

https://illinoisnewsroom.org/saliva-based-covid-19-test-developed-at-u-of-i-receives-fda-emergency-authorization/

https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.06.18.159434v1

the FDA EUA was a first step but I'm guessing the machines and reagents are the biggies?

so as far as numbers go I've just been keeping an eye on the California County watchlist, which basically determines whether or not schools can open

https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/CID/DCDC/Pages/COVID-19/COVID19CountyDataTable.aspx

Basically, you need to have adequate testing, low case rates, stable hospitalizations, and ICU/ventilator availability.

The problem is it's too hard to get off the list (I think mostly because of the 14-day case rate). But like no one seems to be doing anything about it other than complaining that it's too hard to get off the list:

https://abc7news.com/solano-county-coronavirus-health-department-covid-19-state-watch-list-ca/6343910/

so that's fun.

https://www.vox.com/2020/8/24/21400360/rnc-covid-19-coronavirus-fact-check-donald-trump-deaths

Quote
In Europe, schools are reopening — and in some nations they never closed — while American parents struggle to balance their jobs with serving as surrogate teachers to children who can only see their regular teachers over Zoom.

In Taiwan and South Korea, cheering fans gather in stadiums to watch their favorite baseball team — over 10,000 fans watched a game in Taichung, Taiwan.

In Germany, restaurants are thriving, and dine-in reservations have spiked, while many American states are imposing new restrictions on our bars and restaurants because it simply is not safe for them to host indoor dining.

There are, in other words, world leaders who did take decisive action to save lives. Donald Trump isn’t one of them.

That’s why I said very early on that if you were holding commercial REIT you need to take your lumps and get out.

tech companies are publicly telling people to WFH forever but are quietly still kicking off major silicon valley office campus construction projects. (surprised me when I heard it.)

also saw a pretty good tweet that if there is an office option people will come into the office so they can suck up to their boss. I'm guessing sucking up to your boss is a big part of JPM culture and the amount of time working from home will shrink and shrink over the next couple of years.

Also goes for law firms and other businesses where you rely on your boss to hand you good clients

Yes Phil, they were looking at the whole of Europe.   :jerk: :jerk:

Almost a year into SAR-Covid-19 and they've found . . . 4 confirmed re-infected on the entire planet.

Of course reinfection occurs ffs.  It is very likely it is pretty rare tho.

and from what i've read so far, immune response is doing its job.  reinfection doesn't seem like it's that big of a deal so far.
