Apology:

First off, I apologize for the way Mario acted tonight. I thought it uncalled for and cannot be dismissed by saying it was in the heat of the moment (the game had been well in hand for a while, no offense). I am not going to pass judgement upon Cartier as a person because I don't know alot about him. I do know that he was involved in Monds receiving a T earlier in the game and I read that he was involved in a scruff with a Tech player recently. That is all the I know. Mario is most certainly not a bad person. I would say he always has the best attitude on the team, but he is certainly not a problem.

Opinion:

This is obviously biased since I don't want Mario to be suspended because we would be sunk, but I honestly think this is being blown out of proportion. Longar Longar got suspended because he broke the bone of another player (and Bob Knight intimidates the Big XII office, but that's another story). Mario (in my personal opinion) did something incredibly stupid and risky, but not incredibly harmful. Cartier certainly wasn't hurt. I barely bumped his cheek. My point is that while the idea of the act is detestible, what actually happened is a very mild version of things that have happened in the past in sports that people get upset about. I wouldn't be surprised or mad if he gets suspended, but the same goes for if he doesn't. I don't expect you to share my opinion, but that's just what I think.

Good game and good luck the rest of the year.

-Derek

    The very best.
whatever happened to aso pogi?
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Thanks for the apology but I agree, your opinion is very biased.  Mario should face some sort of punishment.  Whether that be one game, extra conditioning, etc., I don't know.  If a player is allowed to commit an act that is detestable and not face any sort of punishment, what message are you sending to other players?  It shouldn't matter if it was mild or extreme.  What he did was uncalled for and unacceptable behavior for any athlete or anyone involved in athletics.  If the BXII doesn't punish him, I would hope that Coach Sutton would.  If he doesn't, I personally, as a coach myself, would loose a lot of respect for him.

I think he might have forgotten the "t". Making "I" turn into "It".

Jeez Coolhawks, you don't have to be so mean.

When Mario learns to conduct a pre-meditated heatbutt with some kind power, then you can come begging for an apology.  Until then, just enjoy the hilarity of the situation.

It referring to the headbutt. It was just a guess. It could be Mario. He could be apologizing in his own little way...

You can't be racist and like basketball.
That was one of the dumbest things I've ever seen.

Yes, I think it was dumber than Colon punch.

Not only was it a cheap shot but it was from behind. The Chickensh*t should be gone for the rest of the season. He won't be though because Sean Sutton looks like a drunk just like his daddy.  :twobirds:

In a drinking contest, who would win?  Huggy or Eddie?

I think Huggs has him beat.

It isn't always the damage that is done that dictates the punishment. Roberto Alomar spit on an umpire and got a large suspension. Was the umpire hurt/harmed by this act? No. It was just a despicable act.

Mario had to walk 15-20 feet over to Cartier to do this. This wasn't a "heat of the moment" thing where they were running past each other, or bumping into each other in the paint. Mario sought Cartier out.

Heat of the moment? No.
Reaction to provocation? No.
Premeditated stupidity? Yes.
