a lot depends on our game with them.
"these are no longer “games” in the commonly accepted sense of the term. these are free throw shooting contests leavened by the occasional sprint to the other end of the floor."

I'm too lazy to look it up but how many games (including Big 12 tourney) do you have left? What's your last 10 look like? I think that will be the most important stat for you guys. I think you'll need to be 7-3 or better, unless you can pull off a big win somewhere.

For our last ten games, we have like a 35% chance of finishing 7-3.

Right now we're 7-3 over the last ten, but we have three games left.  @a horrible Colorado team, @ a good Oklahoma State team that's suddenly choking horribly, and home against a decent Oklahoma team that just lost to Mizzou last night.

Of the three, we're most likely to lose to OSU, but they have been playing HORRIBLE basketball lately.  They even lost to Colorado, who has 200+ RPI and like 8 wins all year.  Either outcome wouldn't surprise me.

here is two problem with Lunardi's bracket ..........

1. he has 2 teams from the Atlantic 10 and Horizon leagues because Wright St (RPI 82) and UMass (RPI 62) are the current leaders of those conf.   The 2nd place teams Butler and Xavier are decent bids to get at larges if they don't win the tourney.   Wright St and Umass are going to need to win the tourney.

2. He also has Winthop in as one of the last 4 when they are leading their conf. and they are border line at large anyway with a RPI of 70

So really he should have 2 more teams in right now as Wright ST and UMass are not "in" until they win the tourney

Couple of other things i laugh at right now.....

1. He has Fsu ahead of us right now despite a 5-8 ACC record and 4 game losing streak and only 3-7 road record

2. Gonzaga with 10 losses and an RPI in the 70s right now is going to need to win its tourney to get in.  He has them ahead of Ksu too

As of right now there are 3 mid majors that look to have at larges and 1 more that could likely get one.   2 teams from the Mt West and 2 teams from the Mo Valley could get at larges (thanks to the pathetic Shockers who could not beat Mo St)

That leaves 30 at larges for the majors, plus the 6 conf champs = 36 teams for the majors

I have it this way right now ----

ACC -6  (those 3 teams at 5-7 or 5-8 have work to do)
B East- 7  (W Virg barely gets in and the Cuse is left out)
Pac 10 -6 (pretty safe bet that these 6 get in right now)
Big 12 - 5 (ksu barely in right now, OSU barely out right now)
SEC - 6 (Ga barely in right now)
Big 10 - 6 (Illinois and Purdue barely in)

Last 4 in ---- WVirgina, K-State, Georgia, Illinois
Last 4 out ---  Cuse, OK St, Clemson, Prov.

OK ST has an RPI of 36 and they have 4 wins (compared to our 1) over top 50 RPI teams.  However they are 0-6 on the road this year.

If they lose to aTm tonight, then they will fall to 5-7 and losers of 5 of 6 in conf.   That will push them out of the Field of 65 for the time being.
