Someone needs to get this information into the hands of the right people. I couldn't even log on to the Alamo Bowl
site to post this, maybe something is wrong with their server. So i'll just post it here and anyone who wants to use it can.

Columbus Post Dispatch...Fiesta Bowl 2003

The orange and green of Miami was difficult to spot last year at the Fiesta Bowl, where Ohio State fans outnumbered Hurricanes fans nearly 9 to 1. It was a different story with Kansas State, which sold 25,000 tickets and filled more than half of the stadium.

"The tremendous fan support . . . began 11 years ago in Tucson at the Copper Bowl, when we had 22,000 fans there," Snyder said.

The purple and white crowd grew from there, with more than 50,000 fans attending the 1997 Fiesta Bowl against Syracuse.

"We probably won’t have that many this time because of ticket availability — Ohio State fans turn out in great numbers for their team, too — but we’ve established a tradition that allows our fans to do something they hadn’t been able to do before we turned the program around."

"Kansas State officials said they would bring about 25,000 fans to next Tuesday's game against Purdue. The support comes after some Wildcats fans said they would stay home from the lower-echelon bowl after the 11-1 and fourth-ranked Kansas State team was passed over by the Orange and Sugar Bowls."

"Under coach Bill Snyder, No. 14 Kansas State was an emerging power from the Big 12
Conference. K-State brought a 9-2 record to Dallas and it marked the fourth consecutive year the
Wildcats had won nine or more games. Along with them came a purple wave of more than 40,000
diehard fans, a figure that shattered the Classic’s old ticket sales record for one team."

2001 Cotton Bowl

"The sea of purple-clad Kansas State fans numbering
nearly 35,000 were witness to a dominant performance on both sides of
the ball by a veteran Wildcat team. K-State’s offense totaled 507 yards, the
sixth-most in Cotton Bowl history, while the defense held a potent Tennessee
offense to 298 total yards. In the end, experience won out, 35-21."

""In the last, maybe, eight to 10 years, I can think of two things that have lived up to their billing," Fiesta Bowl director John Junker said. "They are Kansas State football and Michael Jordan. You can't sell either of them short and they both get it done. There aren't many things like that in this world today."

No doubt many of the Kansas State fans attending the Fiesta Bowl tonight also made that trip to Tucson in '93. It was estimated that more than 20,000 accompanied the Wildcats to watch them drub Wyoming 52-17, leading to a memorable statement by athletic director Max Urick prior to kickoff.

"As the sun begins to set on Tucson tonight," Urick said, "you're going to see a purple haze on the horizon because they're coming, and they're coming by the thousands."

Because Mizzou has eight wins and beat us, and Tech has the same amount of wins as us and won their last game.

I agree, we should get the nod, but that is why they are also being considered..
