I support a Mac environment and I'm thinking that if you go firewire to firewire your mac should view the DVR as an external hard drive.  The hope from that point is that you can find the file and that you can find a format converter to get it into a Quicktime format.  I'm pretty swamped today but I'll take a look at it unless someone beats me to it. 

Its sounds like the best option for all of us is for the guy that copied it HD to put it up as a torrent once its put into a compatible format.
