Keitman and Clinkscale interviewed Michael Beasley on 810 last night around 5:30. He pretty much threw K-State under the bus in about 7 different ways. Funny stuff.

Basically:

1) He was going to play anywhere his former coach was hired. Huggy hired him so by default Beasley signed with Huggins. HAd the guy stayed at Charlotte, K-State wouldn't have even entered his mind. Had the coach been hired by Paducha Tech, he would be playing at Paducha Tech. (He kind of is playing at Paducha Tech.)

2) Manhattan sucks. Took his first trip to the Little Crapple and was disappointed. But, he is there to play ball and can make the best of it. (Clear attempt to backtrack on his honest opinion to the listeners where he is about to play.) Keitzman asked the question hoping for the usual media talk and got a sh*tburger served to him by Beasley.

3) The first sniff at the NBA first round and he is gone. Gave lip service to "getting a degree" but then flat out said if Stern is going to call his name he is gone.

4) Apparently thinks Manhattan is a basketball town. If they don't win immediately, he will find out how bandwagon fans react.

5) Had a few other zingers that basically said Huggins is his coach by default because he hired Beasley's mentor, K-State just happens to be his destination for a year, etc.

LEGEND!

Classic! And Danny Manning would have gone to ku even if his truck-driving father hadn't been hired as an assistant. LOL! And Larrytown is Shangra-La. Great double standard, there. But can we expect otherwise? I think not.

Can't even spell Paducah.

Sounds a lot like Rush with the "one year destination" stuff...

Wish I could have heard the interview.

All racism Wilt experienced during his time in Lawrence was A-OK...because it happened during the 50's.

on KMAN he said he loved Manhattan. He said that he is here for four years. And he said Huggins is a GREAT coach. He did say that he didn't know much about K-State before he got the offer but he says he is happy now because of our wonderful academics, fans, and coaches.

Hawk fans obviously taking their lead from what Self implied in this quote from the Cap Journal:

Quote
"He's been down here a ton of times," said Self, "but I think it's so cool when a guy commits because he wants to be at the place and not because of a personnel standpoint. He wants to be at Kansas. He also held true to his word and he's a team player."

I don't understand why ku just didn't hireTom Asbury when Roy left.

I mean according to Self and Hoax all the kids go to ku because they love Kansas, love ku, and love Lawrence.

So if things are so great there, why doesn't ku just save themselves about $750K a year (give it to Mangino since he's doing such a great job and you know they'll be a huge fight to keep him Lawrence after this year.  So clearly he's worth $2.25 million a year minimum) and bring in a Tom Asbury type guy who only has to throw the doors open to Allen Fieldhouse, walk the kid around a bit and then take a drive around town.

But when I was in Kansas last, I drove through Lawrence aka Olathe Jr. an determined that it was indeed still in KANSAS.

    Fear the Brick
ku fans act as if Brandon Rush, Julian Wright, and Darrell Aurther are going to the ku to get their degree and because they won a national title in 1989.  What talented kid doesn't choose a school because of the coach?  Giles and Rod Stewart both left their schools to play under Townsend at ku.  I don't care what kind of tradition ku has, if Wooly is their head coach they don't get those kids.   They'd get the best player from the Ivory Coast rec league.
