Not likely to happen, but FWIW:

NU still might get a Thursday night appearance. Osborne said ESPN might try to move NU's Oct. 2 Big 12 opener at Kansas State to Thursday.

Something tells me that OBz might do the Thursday night game thing if for nothing else -it could be a big audience... Thursday night FB is awesome! Hell, USC plays on thursday nights.

Texas-Nebraska next October on ESPN Thursday, live from Memorial Stadium?

Almost. Nebraska Athletic Director Tom Osborne said on Monday that ESPN wanted to move the Oct. 16 game to Thursday night, Oct. 14. NU had agreed. But Osborne said it didn't come together because Texas refused, because of what Osborne said were concerns about “missing class time."

Oh, that Mack Brown, always looking out for the best interests of his students; I'm sure they would rather be in study hall than having to deal with 85,000 Husker fans under the lights.

NU still might get a Thursday night appearance. Osborne said ESPN might try to move NU's Oct. 2 Big 12 opener at Kansas State to Thursday.

Two fewer days to practice and prepare for the game.  No way Snyder does this.

Thursday night games are ok in places like LA that can fill a stadium with people coming a 5 mile radius, but it is not so good for places like MHK where most of the fan base is at more than 2 hours away.

Thanks to the cooperation of the Big 12 and our friends at ESPN, we will host Nebraska for a rematch of the 2009 Big 12 North title game on Thursday night October 7! ESPN's Thursday night broadcasts are consistently among the most-watched college football games of the year and offer tremendous exposure for the entire University and community.

Good stuff for sure.   Gives us an open date before the NU thurday night game and then extra time to prepare for ku.  The only downside I see is moving the ISU game up.  We'll be breaking in a new QB and they have a 5th year senior.  Playing them the third game of the year is going to be a slight advantage to them simply because experience at the QB position makes a big difference early in the season.

We could start next year 1-2 with a pretty good central Floriday team coming into Manhattan the next week.  Of course we could just as easily start it out 4-0 going into the bye with extra time to get ready for NU at home.   Lot's of 50/50 type of games on the schedule next season all comes down to QB play for us.

honestly think Bill Snyder sat down and focused entirely on how he could get a bye the week before the kansas game and went from there.  kudos to him for getting it done.   :kstatriot:

not really a bye week before ku just a few extra days because we play on Thursday the week before.  The true bye week is before the NU game and I'm sure NU has a bye the same week we do.   Snyder wouldn't play a Thursday night game if he had a short week to prepare.

yeah but any extra time to prepare...always remember that being a staple of the schedule--the bye week before the ukans game.  it looked like it was gonna be tough to pull off this year but he got it done and for that i'm impressed.

Are you fracking stupid?  Seriously, were your parents related or somethin?  Memorial Stadium would sell out at 2 in the morning, on Christmas Day in a 10 below blizzard against a Division 2 team.  You all are worried about attendence?  How hard could it be to put together 50000 on a thursday night?  You know we'll pitch in with the usual 5-10k fillin in that corner on the closed end. This would be a huge opportunity for Snyder on a national stage to get K-State back on the map with a win for the whole nation to see against what will be a highly hyped Nebraska team.  But obviously some of you fans are blinded by the fear of another loss to Nebraska for the whole country to see.  Honestly, this games makes me more nervous than any of them next year.  Kansas St. and Snyder have my respect.  I say go for it.

Kansas State would win this game whenever they played.  Nebraska isn't going to be very good.

Funny that the Lincoln paper made it sound like this was K-States idea.  Now Nebraska has another excuse when they loose.
