But if he's really serious about this "I'm just here to calm the waters" bullcrap, then we should have a coaching search every single year until the right guy pops up.

This is a fantastic post imo

Totally correct.  Can you imagine if our AD was forward thinking enough, and I'm not saying he is or he isn't, to do a good solid search, extending "feelers" every year from here forward?  I truly hope there is even a chance this is happening.  The reality that OB could just say "I'm done" again needs to be realized unless we want to end up with some loser who is currently on this non-recruiting staff.

If your John Currie, you are lying in bed awake tonight, staring at the ceiling, contemplating the idea of Mike Leach at the helm.  There are "slam dunks" and then there's ripping the freaking goal down....this would be the later, not the former.

*sigh*

Another dream that will never be realized  :'(

Get that thought out of your head.  Now.  You are my friend and I hate to see you sad.   This is like that time when you were super excited about your "Fire Ron" banner and he got fired before you had a chance to fly that bugger over the stadium.  You were just so despondent.

Thanks bro.  I still consider our failure on that effort (even though it was rendered obsolete by the early awkward firing of Ron) to be the closest we have ever come to doing something truly magical...and we missed by the slimmest of margins.....it was right there....

Leach is a nice coach, but I don't see him winning a National Title before OB.  Snydz had a real nice run around the turn of the Millennium if you recall.

Remember TT has a pretty good recruiting bed right there, and they were getting UT castoffs rather than the A&M castoffs they used to get.

Now if he ends up at a place like OU or Michigan he'll be in pretty good shape being able to pick up the big-time recruits, but he's not going to win a National Title in Manhattan or Pullman.

Can you imagine?  Leach is our HC we go win a Dr. Pepper and Billy Cosh throws for a gazillion yards.  Then we can all complain about how BC is more than a system QB and how he should have won the Hiesman.

You've already dismissed VikingPak?

Besides, the ramping up for the banner was magical.  I have no doubt that the prospect of it - which KSU higher-ups knew was happening - didn't hurt the timing of RP's dismissal.

Don't do this.

Leach would be awesome.  Would love to go watch his practices.  One of my top 3 favorite coaches in the Big 12.

Leach would contend for the north every 2 or 3 years.  I'd take Leach in a heartbeat.

I just love that the school that had no problem hiring Bobby Knight* could think that what Leach did would be a catalyst to fire a coach.

*and I had no problem with Tech hiring Knight.

Would rather take a legit shot at Patterson in 4 years after Snyd's contract is up and GPatt has expended most of his recent extension.

You honestly think AP National Coach of the Year Gary Patterson is going to be at tcu in 4 years?

hmm...well...I guess to that I ask: If Patterson can be lured away mid contract as you say then why shouldn't it be KSU? Keep in mind that I pose this question under the same assumption that we are in a world where we should try to hire Leach 1 year into Snyder's 5 year contract.

I would say there is still 40% of me that thinks Patterson will still end up at Khatz U someday.  I don't know why I still entertain those thoughts.  Crazy I guess.  Crazy in love.   :shy:

Snyder's contract is meaningless (even compared to other college football coach's contracts which are all meaningless to begin with).  I don't know that there has been a coach in the history of college football that has had their current contract hold them up from taking another job.

I would be perfectly ok with Leach being our coach and we consistently win 8-9 games a year.  Can't even imagine how much fun it would be to throw a billion yards a season

We would get so mad that whoever our QB was isn't a Hiesman contender.
