    The very best.
the best defenses allow the least amount of points. (non-offensive, of course)

It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Good defenses do allow few points but the statistic "points allowed" as it's recorded isn't always a reflection of that.

    Gettin' angried up!!!
welcome back 04/05 defense.
To be fair, this year pretty much was the equivalent of our '04 and '05 defenses (40th overall).

Those defenses were ranked 43rd and 45th in total D, respectively, and just seemed a lot worst than they actually were given the fact we were ranked in the top 6 for seven years in a row prior to that.

Completely retarded statement.

Actually, the last place losers of 04' - 05' were much closer to 07' - 08' in points allowed, at the end of the day, the only defensive stat that matters.

By all means post-rationalize this bush league move to promote Cosh to sole DC, though.  I expect nothing less, Special.

Neither statement is completely accurate.

04- 28 ppg  360 ypg   GARBAGE DIVISION
05- 31 ppg  350 ypg   GARBAGE DIVISION
07- 31 ppg  401 ypg
08- 36 ppg  479 ypg
09- 23 ppg  340 ypg

You trying to say that the North's offenses were worse in 04 and 05 than they were in 09?  Mizzou was the only team in the north that really scored points at a decent rate once conference play began this year.

Thanks for the hfbiq breakdown, Special_K.  Because, the dominant K-State defenses of the 90's that never gave up points just appeared to be pretty good because our special teams were able to stop punt and kick-off returns.

Hey, by the way, is Cosh a good DC or not?  I get confused because the post rationalization to defend Snyder seems to change daily.  Last week we needed "new blood".  Now, not so much.........

Remember this?

Let's be honest did anyone on this site honestly believe Vic was the long-term solution to our defense?

Not saying Cosh is, but Vic wasn't exactly tearing it up on the recruiting trail and the fundamentals our defensive staff taught the same players that Tibs did such a shbt-azz job on was more responsible for our improvement on defense than any play-calling by Vic.

We desperately need some young blood on the staff with this hire, though.

Weird.

LOL, if you're trying to even compare anything we've put on the field defensively the last 6 six years to our DOD defenses then you are further out there than even I'd initially thought.

As for Cosh, where did I ever say he was the solution? Post rationalization? LOL, I was merely pointing out that it's ludicrous to try to say this season's defense was any better than those '04 and '05 defenses, which it wasn't.

I stand by my statement that what this staff needs is young blood for recruiting. I'm not sold on Cosh yet, but I don't think the guy is nearly as bad at Xs and Os and player development as some would believe, but none of it will mean a lick of we don't continue to improve in recruiting on that side of the ball.
