I haven't been able to get too many of the SUNY Buffalo games via Surewest here in KC, does anyone have any idea of what style of football Gill favors?

This would be a good hire for 2 reasons IMO:

Either:

A) He sucks, no explanation needed why this would be awesome.
B) He does well, and NU/random other school hires him away at some point.

I don't know if it's true or not . . . but it's never going to get any better for Gill at Buffalo, so if I were him and I'd be proactively lobbying for the job.

A guy like Sumlin with 1 more good year under his belt, would not only be paid pretty well at Houston, he could possibly parlay that into a Big 12 South Job.   If things aren't headed clearly for the better at A&M after next year, that job will be open, you never know with Leach, and Baylor as well.

Would be hilarious to watch NU floundering under Pelini and Turner totally sucking at ku at the same time.  NU would officially have no viable coaching candidates other than Solich.

Nothing like hiring last year's hot candidate that everyone else has since cooled on.

Excellent question, and I am glad you brought this up...

ku has quite a few affluent GOP boosters, despite their "liberal" campus lifestyle....it's one of the great paradox's of ku fandom.  No one, and I mean NO ONE knows how to get along with nutty Christians better than rich GOP members....they play those ignorant zealots like a &@#%ing fiddle.

It's a match made in heaven!

As someone who has been LOL'ing at ku football for 2 decades, I pray they hire Gill.  Last year's hot name, how perfect for 2007's hot team.

fatlock in an interview on 610 this afternoon called hiring gill a complete disaster hire and that the guy barely knows X's and O's and only got the buffalo job b/c he had greenbay in his coaching background which gets you a job anywhere.  pretty hilarious.

I don't know if I have ever seen a journalist with less of a knowledge of college footall than whitlock this season.  A stamp of approval from him is the kiss of death.  He has no idea what he is talking about and the idea that he tries to speak to X's and O's is laughable.

As for Gill, I don't know how anyone who pays attention to Buffalo as a program, last season, and the injuries this season, can think that Gill has done anything less than an outstanding job with what he has been handed.

But I thought Mangino could coach too.  :frown:
