Adjusting the "wins" criteria for bowl eligibility

I've heard from several people in passing(including fans from other schools), that there aren't enough bowl eligible teams to fill all the bowls, and the NCAA is considering waiving the "only 1 win against FCS teams" rule.

I didn't check to see if this was true, was just wondering if anyone had heard this?

Seems kind of strange and I don't really believe (hence the no research), but then again there are so many bowls now.  If there are 30 bowls (I think there might be more than this) then 60 BCS teams would have to have 6 wins (only 1 could be against FCS).  There are less than 120 BCS teams, so it seems like it could be a possible than more than half the BCS teams (approx 60) don't have 6 eligible victory, especially considering the number of FCS wins over BCS teams this year.

Legs, our own Big 12 comish is behind this. Very outside chance but their is a chance. Would make ku losing to MU even more sweeter as their loss would allow us to go to a bowl game. Again just rumbling right now.

If this happens, it will solidify the fact that it will be a LONG time until a playoff system comes into being. We travel well (no secret there) and they need some more teams to fill bowl slots... VOILA - enter KSU.

34 Bowls for 68 teams. There are currently 71 teams with 6 wins and there could be a few more added to it.

After some digging the only other teams I found with 2 FCS opponents scheduled where Rutgers and Northern Illinois who have 7 wins anyway. I probably missed some others that had 2 FCS teams scheduled but I mostly just looked at 6 and 7 win team's schedules.

Snyder was put in a tough spot to fill the schedule. The depth of ineptitude from our previous athletic dept. really hurt the program and K-State as a whole IMO.

The 1991 team got screwed as well 7-4, 4-3 big 8 but then no d1-aa games counted. jobbed both years IMO. Especially if uk win against mu and goes to a bowl game with a 2-6 big 12 record.

Bottom line there are way too many bowl games & too many stupid rules. I remember when going to a bowl game was a big deal and meant a team has a really good year. Scheduling 3 D1-A stiffs, 1 d1-aa stiff and winning 2 out out of eight conference games is not worthy of going to a bowl game IMO.

It was really stupid of KSU to schedule 2 d1-aa games this year because winning 4 conference games and finishing second in the north is probably worthy of lower tier bolw game IMO.

1999 La Tech went 8-3 including a huge win over Alabama, yet did not go bowling.  Part of the reason is that they were an independent and did not have any particular bowl affiliations if I remember right.

No use getting all worked up over this because it isn't going to happen.   I'd say that it is a .01% chance of happening.

Would definitely be nice, but don't get all worked up about it.
