Even if we call pull off the upset, I don't want to hear about what a good team they have.  You know damn well when the TV graphic showing quality wins comes up late in the season that, other things being equal, a win over Ole Miss looks a hell of a lot better than a win over Dayton.  The only thing at stake when you play a team like Dayton is your dignity.

Agreed.  Lose-Lose.  Wish we were playing Indiana.

isn't dayton in ohio?  think it may be, which would explain why they suck.  nothing good come from ohio.

Wasn't Pullen considering Dayton?  Leaving GRCOAT aside, I'd say he was sort of a coup for us as a high school recruit at the time.

the thing about Dayton is they can bomb the three and we are vulnerable to teams like that. that frebreezies guy worries me.

yeah, no.  they don't do that at all.  at least they didn't last year.  maybe the coach decided to radically change his style when he saw that he'd be returning pretty much everyone from his 2009 tourney team.

May be true, but Dayton is a better team than Ole Miss.

Lotta dumbcrap posting going on in this thread.  Dayton would be a good win for the selection committee, and no they aren't better than Ole Miss.  Ole Miss is going to be a beast in the SEC this season.  Both team are fringe top 25 type teams at worst and solid play for seed teams at best.

We def. need to get a win over Dayton today.  And follow that up with strong performances against X, Bama, UNLV, WAZZU if we can go 4-2 or even 3-3 in our decent non con games I would be pretty happy.  I'd like to be playing for seeding come tournament time not hoping to get in.

You don't know this.  And no one knows who is better between Dayton and Ole Miss at this point.  Either could end up having a sh*tty year.  It's fairly likely that one of them will.

By likely, you mean probable.  By fairly likely, I mean legitimately plausible.  There's just no good basis on which to judge that one of those teams is better than the other right now.

who cares.  this team sucks and has garbage coaching.  what's the upside to playing and beating UNC or anyone else good?

although, my not likely did not reference which of the teams was better, there is certainly a means to judge which team will have the better season.  you could look at how good they were last year and adjust for losses and additions.  and/or you could evaluate the abilities of the individual players on each team's roster.

If you're a bubble team based on your conference record and do that, you chances of getting in the tournament are pretty good.

None of those evaluations will rule out plausible scenarios - like the one in which either Ole Miss or Dayton has a good year while the other has a mediocre one.

It occurs to be with Dayton being ranked we'll get run on Sports Center. Too bad it's a Sunday with football and all.

Crazy that the last time we beat a ranked OOC opponent it took a ridiculous day from Larry Reid to do it.

This positive that I took from this is that we can beat a mid-major for the right reason:  We're simply bigger and badder.  They couldn't hang with in rebounding or deal with our size inside.

Well, now that we know we won, this is an incredible win.  We showed that we've seen what the mid-majors have to offer and we are not impressed.  We basically slept walked our way to victory due to our superiority.  We beat a ranked opponent.  That's awesome.  And we came out of PR 2-1.  Given that there's only one team that did better, that's not too shabby.

Dayton is a good team that will hover around 25-30 ranked all year and we were very close to blowing out.  They aren't huge but can shoot and disciplined.

It's a real nice win and makes the trip worth the while.

That and beaches, bitches and brews mirite?
