It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Relax, man.  Remember our first few games with Mike's class?  Not so great.  Frank will get these dudes to resemble a basketball team within a few weeks.  Tonight was painful to watch, though.

Yeah, they'll get better.

Seriously, don't be surprised if we beat Dayton.  Frank will get these guys to play.

Last year's early season team would have been pummelled tonight.  On the other hand, our guards tonight were complete sh*t and we were in the game most of the way.  Relatively speaking, this year's team looks better than last year's.  As they should.

Just once I would like to not have to dig ourselves out of a early season hole. Just once.

This.

Biggest disappoint by far so far is our defense and rebounding, especially the effort.  I think our guys started to believe they were really good, hopefully they'll learn they still have to work their butts off to play Frank's way.  Right now we just aren't for long enough stretches of the game.

    warm up the EMAW
Fats remember those ridic non-con games?  We would always try to spin and rationalize wooly's ridic starts but they were horse shat.  Ndsu, u dub (cowbuys not huskies).

And there was some serious pain.

Wake me up when frank loses an exhibition game to ea sports that clears the bench and has some gamer contest scrub score against his own university.

Also, you'll have more early consistency with continuously crappy but experienced talent rather than good, inexperienced players.

They are young and defense is the hardest thing to learn for a young player.  My biggest disappointment was not making free throws.  I can't believe how bad we were, nobody could make one.  I think we shot like 40% (just  a guess) from the line.  That sucks

Fan's got it right!!!!  They have been reading their press clippings....they think they are really good!!!   They hopefully will be really good at some later date but at this stage they think they are really good. :ksu:

we have enough experience at positions to not play like we're playing.

pullen:  in 3rd year
clemeten:  in 2nd year, 3rd year in program
sutton:  in 3rd year
jamar:  in 2nd year, 3rd year in program
kelly:  in 1st year, 2nd year in program
and when colon comes back that's a 4 year player.

we have enough to be good early.  those players know what frank expects and how he wants it.  our HS coach should have them better than this, imo.

Kelly is a newcomer.  We usually have at least 2 newcomers on the floor at all times, especially when Pullen, Samuels, and Sutton are all in foul trouble.  And a 12 point loss to Miss doesn't mean we aren't good anyway - they match up with us talent wise and shot a higher FT percentage.  There's nothing to take away from the game that should make you think we aren't good.

And Frank could probably do better, I just don't think it's that big of a deal.

Kelly was here all of last year.  He's been practicing, he's been watching.  the more and more I think about how much experience we actually do or should have, the more pissed I get that we aren't better (not just ole miss, but the other games as well).  if we don't win 3 out of Dayton, UNLV, Bama, and X then I'm probably going to start saying mean things about Frank every chance I get.

the loss in and of itself isn't.  the fact that we look completely lost does warrant discussion.

with this much talent and experience, we should have controlled that game last night, or the night before, yet we continue to allow the other team to control the tempo.

frank, despite his lovelyness, can't expect the inmates to run the asylum.

games are different, bro.

yeah, I'm taking the exact opposite approach - sure, they look lost on defense, but they really would have been in the game if they shoot a decent percentage from free throws.  that's why I don't think looking lost is a big deal.  talent will overcome coaching (either way) in the long run.

did you not watch the game last night?  what offense were we running?  3 bigs get lost at the top of the key and pullen pull up from 22?  sweet.

I understand games are different than practices, just thought kelly wouldn't be so soft after having to go through a year of practices and stuff.  thought he'd "get it" quicker because of that.  it's incredibly boring to know that apparently we're going to have to deal with this slow start sh*t like every year.  and if most of this is "effort" related, then that falls squarely on frank.

I dunno.  effort is hard to teach.  I don't think the defensive problems are mostly effort related.  it's getting players to know what to do, and that falls more on Frank.
