Seriously impressed with how the seaon has gone.  Snyder already has matched Prince's best conference season ever (4 wins in 2006), with one game still to go!  And, Snyder has made already made a two-game improvement over last year's conference mark, without a real QB anywhere on the active roster.  Not to mention, the team has clearly improved over the course of the season.

He's done this with a team that is seriously well short of the talent on the 2006 roster.  (Do you see six NFL draft picks on this year's roster?  Not even close.)  And less talent than almost every other team we've faced this year.

Next year, we'll have a bunch of new toys on offense (Harper, Brod Smith, Sammy Lamur, Demarcus Robinson) to complement D Thomas.  And we only lose one OL, right?  (Curious who will play QB...)  On defense, hopefully Brandon Harold sticks around (comes back?) and Lamark gets it into his head to play defense, which would make nice additions on that side of the ball.  We'll miss Fitzgerald next year, no doubt, but we only lose, what, three starters?  We could well be improved on that side of the ball, too.

My ultimate measure of Snyder's success is recruiting results, which are still up in the air -- and I would take Patterson every time in a trade -- but I'm plenty  :) now.

    The very best.
Great post, I agree.

I'm very hopeful for next year, and this year has been fun.

A win saturday, and we will be some lucky fans.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

I agree great post, there is a lot to be excited about.  A win tomorrow would be a great step for the program.  Those extra practices in preperation for the bowl game would also be great for our young people.  Get them all a taste of the next DOD!  Bring on the Cats!!!! EMAW :steadymobbin':

Sometimes I feel like I don't deserve Snyder.  It's kind of like when an ugly poor dude marries a hot chick.

Good post and agree completely. Win, lose, or draw tonight, I will have high expectations for next season and will still chalk this season up as a success.

Who would've thought in Snyder's first year back we'd have a chance to play our last game of the season as the deciding factor in who wins the North? Granted, the North isn't a great division, but it still speaks volumes about where we've come.

not really. just will be optimistic for the future which means a lot.

c'mon, you need to make a bowl for it to be a successful year.

Success if relative, based on expectations. A one-win season in '89 was a success for KSU. After the La-la loss who really expected us to make a bowl or even win more than 2 conference games?

I look at it this way: if Snyder had his way in creating the schedule way back when, instead of having to put up with what Prince left him and scheduling Tenn. Tech last minute, we would've played 4 cupcakes in the non-con (3 Div-IA, 1 Div-IAA teams) and would be 8-3 (4-3) overall right now.

Fun, ok, season...but not a success if it ends tonight.

Doesn't mean there weren't some good things.

agreed. Not a failure, but not a success. Will be a little brutal and bitter if it all ends tonight. Will be pandemonium if it doesn't.
“My arm gets tired from doing this,” said coach Bill Snyder, waving his arm.

You can't be racist and like basketball.
not sure if KSU fans underrate our football talent or overrate our bball talent more.  (relative to opponents)

:dunno:

We probably have more players on the basketball team that commentators point to as pro prospects than we have on the football team.   Given the relative size of the teams, this = good talent on basketball team and bad talent on football team.

yeah, that's different than underrating and overrating.
