if ku goes 1-7 in conference (fatty please give us a Mangino conference tally if he goes 1-7 in conference this year)??

In related news:

-Hints of Player/Parent/ku athletic administration meeting this week.  Those are always a good thing.

-Further tidbits on the utter disdain that Lew Perkins has for Mangino.

-Further rumblings about how the ku coaching staff is completely dysfunctional.

-Rumblings that the players want no part of any minor bowl game and another 3 to 5 weeks of practice with Mangino present.

Yep, it has all the makings of a bonafide implosion.

Lew has been merely biding his time with Mangino.

The 2007 was a gift, that he was more than happy to accept.  The basketball program has bought Lew all the power in the world.  He can fire Mangino and they won't bat an eye.

is that Mangina makes what most would consider a lateral move and takes a position such as Louisville or Illinois (think Glen Mason to Minnesota) when they open up, at the urging of Lew, he'll move along and both will save face.  Lew is a pro, he is not going to frack himself by firing a guy who has elevated the program and by doing so make it harder to make the next hire.  Question is, who can ku get?  My money is on Dennis Franchione cause he wanted to leave Bama for ku a few years back  ;).

Gary Patterson to ku? :dunno:

Lateral move at best. Also, if we get Franchione, I will drive up to Lawrence and fight Lew personally :piratecaptain:

I would guess that they will throw a bunch of money at an offensive coordinator from a big East/SEC school.  I'll eat crow if I"m wrong but I don't see an established head coach walking into the situation at ku ex: having to deal with the bball program.

Not to worry guys GP is in a position to get a much better gig than uk. I am guessing he takes over a big time BCS program once he leaves tcu.

Ive got to imagine that ku has a huge life insurance policy and they are pumping him full of gravy and stress so they can collect.

Border Patrol guys were talking Turner Gill this morning.  Dennis Dodd dismissed it because Turner's record wasn't very good this near, but didn't have any insidery reason other than that.

    The "other" KSU
When does 'Gina's contract expire? Very important as Im sure lew doesn't want to be wrapped up in being the "other" big 12 school to be paying a coach who is no longer employed at the university. The fat man has a 2.5M contract - me thinks uk cannot afford to let his fat ass go and hire a quality HC.

i'm  :ohno: about who lew might get.  i'm hopeful it's uconn's coach.  i mean, mang is making, what?  almost 2million?  it's not a bad job at all....they have a new facility, they'll pay whomever they get, the next guy will have the full backing of the AD, and the next two years are gravy conference schedules.

Yeah, this is the year to can him if they do.  Besides not having a qb and WR's next year they'll still win 3/4 non cons and have a great shot at getting 3/4 conf wins.

I don't like Mangino but I don't want him gone from ku.  He's an average coach at best and I think Perkins will get someone better to replace him.  They're spending money on football now.  Lew has been planning this for awhile just waiting for a bad season so he could make his move.   EVen when he was giving Mangino big pay raises it was more about laying the foundation for paying his replacment huge dollars.

My only hope is Lew goes after the guy from UCONN I think he's another average coach no better then Mangino.   Lew got a lot of credit for "building" the UCONN football program  but honeslty look at the big east.   USF, Cincy, Rutgers, UCONN etc pretty much every team in that league is said to be some amazing job of building the program.   Maybe at the end of the day it's just not that hard to have some good seasons in the Big East.  Hopefully Lew believes his press clippings and throws money at the the UConn coach.

agreed. we need mangino to stay, i dont want someone that can actually coach there.  people saying 'who would want to coach for ku?' normally i would agree but they have lew perkins and that guy can pull some strings.  i use to live in connecticut and i dont think edsall would leave uconn for kansas from what ive read in the papers over the years.  im hoping nothing comes of this.   :hope:

If you were put in charge of running a holocaust, there is one man that you'd call first.  Lew Perkins.  That mother &@#%er gets things done, no matter what is required.

I am beyond arguing about whether he is the best AD in the country....I have moved on to wondering whether he is the best there has ever been.

THE. BEST. EVER.

So &@#%ing jealous... :curse:
