I love snyder as much as anyone but really, no amount of scheming or coaching-up was going to get us any upset victories over teams that have a bunch more talent.  the fcs teams, isu, a&m, cu, ku, all equal or worse talent overall imo.  tech, ou, mizzou, clear talent adv.   ucla and ulala, we prob win those on a neutral field or maybe even on the road if they weren't so early in the year.

snyder made a killing beating teams he should beat and winning most of the even matchups, but he usually fell short against better teams.  talent is still king (which kinda sucks for us going forward).  

that said, we have a shot against nebr because their talent is almost all on one side of the ball, just too bad its on the road.

Mizzou by far the most talented team in the North.  I think we make a game of it vs. Nebraska if we can be +3 in turnovers.

a&m is the only one i might consider, but its not much of an edge if any.  ku has a few nice parts on offense, but their line play and defense overall is very mediocre.  colorado doesnt offer much at the skill positions or overall really.  best gauge of talent is which teams have the most guys headed to the nfl.  i dont see much on the teams we've beaten, whereas tech/ou/mu have very noticeable and draftable talent.

I guess I was basing it off of rating coming out of high school.  CU and TAMU consistently put together much nicer classes than us.

I have no idea what the NFL numbers look like though, so you may very well be right.

MU may have a talent advantage on us, but that isn't the whole story.  Like Dax said, MU has GLARING weaknesses on both sides of the ball.  It wasn't talent that got us beat today it was lack of a proper game plan.  Look, I love Snyder as much as the next guy but this game was on the Bill and the Staff.  We weren't going to run well with eight in the box, but did we use the passing game or at least the threat of it to soften them up?  Not really, and when we did pass we did so successfully(I'm talking within regular offense, not in catch up mode.). 

I want to put an aside on this as well.  We have been winning because of two main things really, a) we don't turn the ball over and b) we create turnovers.  We failed at both today.  Snyders gameplan today gave us little margin for error when utilizing our passing game against one of the worst secondaries in NCAA football would have given us a little more leeway.

The whole conference has more talent than we do.  Ron Prince put this program back 3 years w his recruiting.  Sorry to say this about Kansas, but he signed 20 players from Kansas and the KC area 3 years ago and 17 jucos the next.  (both those are estimates so don't correct me please)  Kansas is not exactly fertile recruiting grounds.

NU has way more talent than us, but I still think we have a chance, albeit not a great one.  We just need to come out and play like there is no tomorrow...which there isn't.

NU will always have more talent than us (well almost always) at least according to the experts.  The difference may vary from year to year, but this is not a year that it is close.

Callahan recruited like a mad man w John Blake (I think).  Just happens to be he had the same coaching skills.

I think our record is a fairly accurate reflection of our talent.  Our first stringers are definitely average big 12 talent.  The depth sucks, we've been ridiculously lucky with injuries, which has possibly inflated our record slightly.

Hey expectations were low, at least for me.  Beating ku was a big deal this year despite how bad they are.  I will give Bill a pass, he knows that we "lucked" our way to this point in the season.  Everything you guys are saying he knows this, never once have I heard him say that they are good or that he is happy with were the team is at.  He will get a free pass this year because this team is over achieving and you know it.  I don't care what you predicted the Wins and Loses at nobody thought they  would win some of the games they won and how they won am I right? I believe Snyder is working on it and we will be getting better each week and over the off season.  I give him next year too just to get 2 recruiting classes under him then we can see where we are at.
