On a scale of 1-10, the impact uniforms have on recruiting is probably like a factor of 0.7. Winning and putting players in the league is probably like 9.8. Tradition and coaching are probably also very high on recruiting impact. Because in terms of marketing, what your uniforms look like(unless they are so hideous you can't concentrate when looking at them) pale in comparison to the exposure that comes with success.
For example, if you have the most badass looking uniforms and completely suck, you won't get any good recruits except one here and there who have zero worth ethic because they were most concerned with how they will look on the field. If you kick everyone's ass week in a week out and send players to the league and your uniforms are light brown and yellow you will probably do pretty damn well on the recruiting trail and everyone will be forced to talk about your program daily on all media outlets and all of your games will be on TV. People are overrating what uniforms do for recruiting.
And for everyone saying the old uniforms are outdated, they are the same franking design as the Dallas Cowboys so you can't tell me people think the Cowboy's uniforms are ugly and outdated when they probably sell more Jerseys than any other team in the NFL.
The uniforms posted in this thread like tcu's and Ohio State's look like trash worn by a loser program trying to separate themselves from programs they don't think they can compete with in any other way. I don't want to be that program. Oregon is the only exception because they are Nike's University.
I don't mind accessories like the gloves posted above but when you start putting stripes/patches/camo and sh1t all over the place with five different off colors it just looks like second rate Arena league trash. I'd have no problems with alternate white uniforms/helmets with purple/silver trim but just keep it clean. Less is more, less is timeless, less wins.
