and lol @ people thinking emaw means "ksufans copycat"

it's much more than that.

It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Should probably have the banner put over the loge boxes in the ODD. The current sign is pretty awful

Def. agree the resurgence is completely due to this website.  Cool that it is all over the place now.

I agree that this site got it going again, but the recent resurgence is completely due to the ku I-70 billboard getting EMAW'd twice in the past 9 months or so. EMAW stuff started popping up everywhere after the billboard got hit before the basketball game last February.

why do you think they vandalised it w/"EMAW" ?

this website.

thank god for fraterneties for taking "EMAW" and running w/it....but let's be real...it all started right here.

Exactly, that's why I said that this site got it going again, it was obviously the inspiration. Without the billboard, though, EMAW would still only be known by people who post on this site. Now, it's blowing up.

No, the billboard didn't mean crap IMO. Just really confused people.

that it did, I sent an email out with the title emaw for the ku game a couple years back, I got around 10 texts/calls asking what emaw meant.

...and really confused people led to people actually knowing what it meant. JFC, I didn't think that it was that hard to understand. GTM started selling multiple styles of "EMAW" shirts after the billboard, the athletic department made the slogan "ksufans copycat" a couple months after the billboard, etc. Without the billboard, EMAW is still understood solely by KSUFans posters. If you can tell me a more rational way of how thousands of new people figured out what EMAW meant in the past year, go ahead. TIA

I'll take 25 of those.

I knew what EMAW meant since I was young but it is a fact that this board is solely responsible for its common usage today.  The billboard was a direct recult of it's usage here.  Every movement has its spark and the EMAWania that is sweeping the midwest was sparked right here.

I don't know where it came from. Probably some cool student like Van Wilder at KSU. I do no that that billboard was a &@#%ing embarassment for all of NE KS to see. Christ could we look any worse.

Back in the day, the proper rejoinder to EMAW was "Every Cat a Wildman."
Still good.

Used to own one of those shirts....might still be hiding in my closet somewhere. I never throw away an EMAWesque shirt.

I remember seeing the phrase on those large banners on the back side of the football stadium expansion deck back in 1999 and for maybe 2 or 3 years after that.  They were large pictures of a generic football player with "ksufans copycat" below.  Those banners were later replaced.  One with the 13 bowl logos which K-State has attended, and the other with a list of all the division and league championships K-State has won.  Anyone else remember those banners?

People who think EMAW made it's surge onto the scene for any reason other than this website have their head in the stand.  I wouldn't be suprised if the KatPak headcover is on the side of our helmets within 5 years.

the acronym certainly resurged thanks to this site.

my first exposure to the slogan itself was from some early 90s radio ads where at the end some campy-80s-ish voices "sang" ksufans copycat and i also remember the shortlived politically corrected version Every-One A Wildcat being put into commercials too.  I can hear it in my head now.

Hah, listening to the beginning of that radio broadcast from 98 gave me chills.  I remember that little jingle now.  I was there from '95 through '00 and I remember the EMAW banners on the back of the upper deck when they first put that up that were mentioned as well.  I don't remember anyone saying EMAW or really using the abbreviation when I was in school though.

Attended KSU in mid through late 1970's and ksufans copycat was around as was the Every Cat a Wildman phrase. Purple Pride was the most common phrase used at that time. uk's retort was KState, where the men are men and the sheep are nervous. The EMAW phrase was not used back then and do agree with the resurgence and the phrase EMAW being attributed to this site.            :cyclist:           :kstatriot:

So how much money would it take to buy out the Briggs Auto slot on the OoD court and replace it with EMAW. I'll throw $10 bucks in.

I know for a fact there is already a movement within the alumni association to re-name the "watch parties" that they host all over the country to " 'Pakers "

This board is overflowing with creationist blowhards unwilling to see the fact that the billboard took a wimpy mantra picked up on by a couple of nerds and evolved it into a fracking powerhouse motto that is single-handidly motivating this institution to bigger and better achievements.  :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:
