The Kansas House of Representatives passed a bill to name a 14-mile stretch of K-177 and U.S. 24 in honor of former K-State coach Bill Snyder. The vote to send the bill on to the Senate was 122-2. One of the votes against the bill was from Lana Gordon, R-Topeka, who noted she is a University of Kansas graduate.

Rep. Lana Gordon, R-Topeka, didn't like the play called by nearly every one of her House colleagues.Gordon was one of only two House members to vote against a bill Wednesday christening sections of two highways in Kansas as the Coach Bill Snyder Highway in recognition of the retired Kansas State University football coach's contributions to the state. The bill sent to the Senate applies the new label to K-177 from Interstate 70 to US-24 highway and also to US-24 from Manhattan to the K-13 junction. Private donations would pay for road signs and maintenance."I didn't think it needed to be done today," said Gordon, declining to elaborate.
