MANHATTAN, Kan. – The highly-anticipated start of the Bob Huggins era at Kansas State will officially tip off at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4 when the Wildcats battle Washburn in an exhibition game at Bramlage Coliseum.

The later start time will allow the K-State Sports Network to broadcast the contest across its 31-station radio network after completing its coverage of the Wildcats’ football game against Colorado earlier in the day.  The football game is set for 2:30 p.m. at Folsom Field in Boulder, Colo., and will be televised on Fox Sports Net.

 In addition, the start time of the Wildcats’ volleyball match with Texas A&M has been moved to 1 p.m. at Ahearn Field House to allow fans the opportunity to attend both the volleyball and men’s basketball games.

This will mark the first meeting between Kansas State and Washburn since 1998 and just the second in the past 60 years.  The two schools, which are separated by less than 45 miles, met 39 times between 1905 and 1946, but have just one meeting – a 76-60 Wildcat victory on Nov. 18, 1998 at Bramlage Coliseum – in the 60 years since. K-State leads the all-time series, 27-13, including 16-5 at home.

 Washburn is coached by Kansas State lettermen Bob Chipman, who is beginning his 28th season at the helm of the program with a 620-221 overall record and 10 NCAA Division II Tournament appearances.  Chipman was a two-year lettermen for the legendary Jack Hartman from 1971-73, helping the Wildcats to back-to-back NCAA Elite Eight appearances and Big Eight titles.

 Washburn returns four starters and seven lettermen from the 2005-06, which produced a 10-16 overall record and 4-12 mark in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. 

 Game time for Kansas State’s regular season opener against William & Mary on Saturday, Nov. 11 is still at a time to be determined.  The school will announce a start time for that contest next week once it learns from the Big 12 Conference the kickoff time for the Wildcats’ football game against Texas at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.
