"There's a responsibility in becoming a professional, and it's difficult for some young people to do that," he added. "From a preparation in life standpoint, it's a difficult transition. (Leaving college) was a hard decision for him. He liked college, but he knew he had an unbelievable opportunity ahead of him.

"As soon as he made his decision (to seek treatment), Dalonte (Hill, Martin's assistant coach and a longtime Beasley mentor) got in a plane and flew down to spend a week with him. Mike told him, 'Bring some K-State gear. I want to be happy again,' and we did."

When I was a kid growing up in the projects, I used to dream of going into space, of escaping the slums, of killing an Ewok!

God Frank and Te have to be the greatest mentors of young NBA talent in league.

Teach them to be great, let them go with praise to the League (even if they aren't ready), let them make their mistakes like men and then be there with a suitcase of EMAW to pick them up and dust them off should they fall.  Just a beautiful group of men we have at the helm of this ship.

Kinda vague..was Dalonte getting treatment for his alcoholism at the same place b's was getting his for depression at the same time?

Well whatever it was thank the Lord Marqueef wasn't driving. Everyone likely would have died, and Pollard would really have a crap storm on his hands.

They might as well start announcing him "MichEMAWl Beasley" :WeirdRobert:   :ksu:
“Nobody plays harder than Kansas State.  Bilas said that to me in person,” Martin said. Now, does that mean that I’m happy every day?  No, because it’s our job to continue to get those guys to continue to grow.”

Can you imagine if he stayed another year? Our starting lineup would have been Clemente, Pullen, Sutton, Walker (would have stayed because of Beasley) and Mike.

That would have been an amazing year for KSU.  You might have made the 2nd or maybe even 3 round of the Tournament (the real one).
