Self said Brady Morningstar, a returning starter from last season's 27-8 team, was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated early Saturday morning.

"We are aware of the situation," Self said. "We are also still fact finding. Regardless of the details that concern the reason for him being stopped, he broke team rules that have been much more stringent since last week. Brady was in serious violation of curfew. Because of that and his extremely poor judgment last night, I have decided to suspend him for the first semester from all competition and travel. Brady will remain a member of our team and will participate in all other team functions. We will support him through this, but needl

Translation: I still need this guy for a little depth but not really until conference play begins...so I'll suspend him for the rest of this semester then after the holidays get him back out there to help us win. I realize my team was involved in a brawl last week and I said I had a zero tolerance policy for poor behavior made by our men.....but what I meant by saying that is that it depends on who gets in trouble and what they have done. And since Brady didn't kill anybody, and no arrests were made we really dodged a bullet. Good thing it wasn't Sherrod or Cole...or I'd really have a problem on my hands.

On one level no need to feel bad for Brady.  He's 33 years old and his only stress in life is being suspended from a basketball team.

On another level feel bad for Brady because if he was black and named Henry, Morris, Collins, he'd be suspended from Late Night activities and might have to run the balconey stairs of AFH after practice.

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) -- Prosecutors have agreed to dismiss drunken-driving charges against Kansas guard Brady Morningstar if he stays out of trouble for the next year.

The 23-year-old Morningstar was arrested Oct. 3 on the Kansas Turnpike near Lawrence on suspicion of driving under the influence. Court records indicate that the junior had nearly twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system at the time.

He was fined $500 and charges included speeding and failing to keep his car in a single lane. Douglas County prosecutors say all charges will be dismissed if Morningstar does not have any further legal problems in the next 12 months.

Self: (thought bubble)
"Dammit. Had I known this was going to be thrown out..I probably wouldn't have come down so hard on one of my returning players. I know I have the depth to destroy just about everyone on our OOC schedule anyway so its of no consequence. I don't care about the 12 months diversion because our season will be up before that time period and I'll have no more use for this lil' kid who just wasting a scholarship.

Don't Forget about ku Basketball
To be fair to the ku fans reading this story, the students did write a letter to Coach Bill Self at the University of Kansas. He responded by writing a very nice letter to the class.

I need to get my secretary to write this letter because I can't get shown up by this Cuban guy who is trying to steal my thunder. I'm not going to visit their school because I don't have to since I've won a national title and I hate little kids...and my time is being gobbled up by covering up all fights and DUI's I've had to deal with in the offseason.
