K-STATE AND IOWA STATE OFFICIALS' AGREE TO BOOST FOOTBALL ATTENDANCE IN UNIQUE WAY AT ARROWHEAD STADIUM/KANSAS CITY MO.
MANHATTAN -- In an earnest attempt to increase attendance at Arrowhead Stadium this week, the Kansas Board of Regents have agreed in principle with Iowa State Administration and Athletic director Jamie Pollard to host an exhibition during halftime of the 2009 football game with a quarter scale tractor pull at Arrowhead Stadium.
"We feel this contest will energize and epitomize both schools' fanbase in a very important market," Currie said. "Our new administration is working to rebuild the confidence of our alums and constituents. This will bring national attention to our agricultural schools including repairing a relationship with FFA (Future Farmers of America) that has been neglected by former administration."
Currie emphasized that this is not a reflection of either football teams performance, rather an "outstanding opportunity to showcase both institutions ASABE (American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers) quarter scale tractor design competition top 5 national teams."
The annual ASABE Quarter Scale Tractor Contest draws national attention and prepares students for professional jobs in Agricultural Engineering. Case, Inc C.E.O. Paul Rumbley relays the importance of the competition, "IT'S AN EXCELLENT WAY for students to prepare for and gain exposure to what they are going to be facing when they get out into the professional world—technical capabilities, problem solving, team player environment, project management and communication skills.
"This will allow the students in these organization an exhibition prior to the competition held in Peoria on June 3rd-6th 2010. We feel this will be an exciting opportunity for our fans, the students, and alumni of the great universities of Iowa State and Kansas State."
