These things are terrifying.  You are in a tiny basket hanging underneath a giant balloon with fire blowing all over the place.  I would be afraid that the fire shooter thing would malfunction and A) catch the balloon on fire or B) not shut off and the balloon floats into space.  So if you ride in a hot air balloon you are probably either going to be burned to death or get hit by a meteor.

Sorry, I couldn't find a picture of a hot air balloon being hit by a meteor.  Probably because cameras don't work in space.

Plz, share your greatest fears about hot air balloons.  I've covered a few, but I'd like to hear what terrifies you the most about these death traps.

    The very best.
It's a terrific sight to see so many in the air at the same time, a real treat. Big in washington, kansas doesn't seem interested in them.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

My name is Roger Murdock. I'm the co-pilot
I saw a hot air balloon crash once.  It happened in overland park and I saw it was really low and the flame didn't seem to be lit and it was heading in my direction.  I continued to watch (from a parking lot) as it cleared the power lines by no more than 5 feet and came down real hard in the parking lot.  Ppl were tossed out of the basket and taken in an ambulance and I saw a cop writing a citation of sorts to someone (what for I have no idea)

Yeah hot air balloons seem like a fracking waste of time

Sad story.  I'm sorry you had to go through that.  Sickening that some people would describe something like this as "a real treat" or "cool".

    Hey, basketball!!!
Whenever I see one in the air I have to take another look at it and stare for a while. Such a peaceful and cool looking thing...

They are big in omaha.  A big group of them take off from NE of our house somewhere and float over our house to the South every saturday in summer.  Probably not big in most of KS/NE rural type areas because hicks would shoot at them or something.

Whenever one came over when I was a kid out in BUMFA they would scare cattle and horses through fences and &@#% crap up.  We wouldn't shoot at them but I'm pretty sure some hot air balloon pilots got their asses kicked upon landing from time to time.
