Nah, I don't write headlines.

But when I tell people what I cover now, I begin by saying, "Rice."

Then I continue, "Rice, baby, too cold, too cold..."

Sure, it's corny as hell, but it usually gets a laugh.

Please laugh. Please...

Jeff, are Rice fans/athletes always talking up their academics 24/7?  Are they going to make you cover baseball?

The administrators are all to happy to remind me that the kids at Rice are the true definition of "student-athletes."

Just spoke to Fran Fraschilla.

Convo started out on Conference USA, but obviously segued to Big 12 hoop, and he felt after ku and Texas - Jesus, the Longhorns are loaded, maybe more so than the Jayhawks if the talent pans out - it's wide open. He felt K-State has a good chance to be No. 3, but he thinks six teams, at the least, get into the NCAA Tournament, and the Wildcats should be one. He added that K-State is currently a major national sleeper, but he expects that to change.

Also, he thinks the starting backcourt in upper tier in Big 12. Said if Kelly can play 15-20 high-energy minutes for KSU, that's huge. Thinks Judge is an elite athlete. Has heard great things about McGruder and can't wait to see him. Loves Jam-Sam, saying people don't know about him and good he can be.

Yeah, I miss you guys.

that must be amazingly annoying.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Maybe. Seriously. Let me think about it. I'd like it to be Big 12-driven with K-State as the centerpiece...

make this happen. can we give you money to make this happen?

Through this site or elsewhere? I'd like to make it where you guys simply ask me stuff, and hey, I'll produce answers. Since I don't cover K-State anymore for a local media entity, I'm free to provide my observations and use the connections I've gleaned over the past few years.

But yes... I'd like to be compensated. If Terry can make it happen, cool. If not, maybe we can do something. My advisor, Trim, can begin drawing up the plans.

Jeff,

While you're working on this new blog, maybe you could simultaneously put together material for a book on the clusterf*ck that has been the KSU athletic department over the past five years.  So many intriguing, more than meets the eye type stories:  Snyder's retirement, Prince's hiring, Huggins' departure, Bill Walker, Delonte and Beasley, Prince's ousting, Wefald and Krause's exits, Snyder's return, and whatever else I'm missing.

Seriously, has any other school had this kind of a roller coaster ride?

Start a blog, call it K-Stated (the impending name controversy will drive traffic), post insider stuff, be Currie-transparent in the cost/effort you have to put out, and take donations.

Then use the blog traffic stats to get a publishing deal for the aforementioned book.  :dunno:
