Coach Barta is a class individual. My senior year I got hurt the week before we played them, he saw me during warmups before the game and spent about 5 minutes talking to me, just seeing how I was coming along.

I did live/work in Phillipsburg for a while. Drove through Smith Center many times. All I'm saying is that aside from Jiffy Burger, the place is a piece of garbage. Great you can beat all the other loser 2A KS football teams. Too bad you have to do all your grocery shopping at Dollar General.

Yeah I totally agree with catdude, if they played teams like Hutchinson they would get there crap ate! Let alone play city schools it wouldn't be pretty. But for 2a it's pretty good I guess? Still respect some college and NFL players coming out of there.

We've also beaten the very same Phillipsburg (3A) that you lived in, and it's neighbor to the west, Norton, (also 3A) for several consecutive years now as well. Then there was 3A Beloit that we beat up on for a few years. Last year we played Colby which is 4A and is improving their program. To make it look like Smith Center plays only 2A teams is far from accurate.

There is something to be said about Smith Center's success. Once in awhile the Redmen will play an opponent that I feel has superior talent, yet they still blow them apart. I think this is about more than football. Barta must do a great job of teaching and instilling integrity. We played the Redmen once and lost 44-0. I think SC would thrive in 4A football, their system of developing and coaching players is that good.

Not trying to be a dick Redman, but sure the consecutive wins yall have made is unreal; however, there are teams that would (like I stated previously) smoke Smith Center.

Of course there are! Has anybody ever said to the contrary here? I don't think so. The lame arguement was that Smith Center plays only weak 2A teams. That was easy to dispute. Do I think we would beat all 3A,4A,5A and 6A teams.....absoutely not! Do I think we would have beaten at least some in past years...you betcha!

Don't really care about the football team. Was mostly trying to emphasize the garbageness of the town itself. Sorry for the confusion.

I'd say the best team in Kansas is in 5A. Hutchinson. Going for 6 state titles in a row this year. (glad they are out of 6A)

Smith Center aint Sh%$. Any 4A team would have a hay day w/SC....eventhough they are by far one of the dirties High School programs. Talked to a retired employee of the Smith Center school district and he made the comment that you wouldn't be able to sleep at night if you knew what went on with those kids in their football and wrestling programs.

Now, Philly on the otherhand, that place is tha shizz. Especially The Chubby Pickle....beats the heck outta Jiffy Burger any day.

I don't know what weed patch you've been frequenting, but I do know that Smith Center's wrestling and football programs are top-notch programs. You sound like a jealous neighbor from the west. I suggest maybe you concentrate on getting the athletic programs of whatever high school you went to (you sound immature enough to still be going there) improved to the point that you no longer need to attack other programs because of your jealousy.

Chicken inn is the best in Phillipsburg.

It has to be taken into consideration that peeburg is the mouthiest school in the MCL. They have occasionally fielded some ~~nice~~ overrated talent in combination with their lack of heart.
