Me?  I'm not a big fan.  At last apartment they were not a problem, then last two months A HUGE PROBLEM!  I went in to Rambo mode and would wake up 2-3 times a night and go crazy with Raid (initially, at the end started bringing the HUGE home defense spray to battle) and killing 10-15 at a time.  When packing/moving got EXTREMELY paranoid about brining them to the new house.  Went nuts throwing out tons and tons of stuff and spraying things and sealing things and then checking/re-checking.  Definitely feel like I got a taste of OCD in a way.  Would not last too long with that disease.

Now you ask?  New apartment roach free.  Elite.  Awesome.  Free wifi not working yet .  But no roaches.  Well, not that many anyway.  Put out those traps and don't see them.

Should I be freaking out more?  Should I have told people this?  Are people going to want to come over to the kk's and hang or will they be all like "dude, they have roaches.  best to stay away from the radley's."

Once you get an infestation, it's a big problem.

The only effective way is to bomb it a couple times, but would require you to leave the premises for a couple days.   Also, you need to get some strong stuff from Home Depot or Lowes (do they have any of those in or near Manhattan?) and spray well along the baseboards and behind kitchen stove, re-frigerator.  I would suggest getting one of those pump sprayers that you fill with insecticide.

Suprisingly never had a roach anywhere I lived (that I saw).  And I lived in a couple dumps in Manhattan.  Seems disgusting.  Found a centapede (sp?) the other day in my basement.  Was gross looking and I kind of went crazy on the Ortho Home Defense Max.  I really hate bugs.  I have no problem whatsoever with snakes or any other scary animals.  I will put my foot on a rattlesnake's head and pick it up but I will never let a spider crawl on me. Are some people born with more fear of certain creatures than others or is that all learned?

Most terrifying/harrowing at the time was definitely getting swarmed by some bees when I was mowing the lawn.  Didn't hear them or anything and then all of a sudden they were on me.  Ran screaming and tore off my shirt right in front of the door and they swarmed it for like 20 minutes.  Not sure what happened.  Sys?

The mower vibrations pissed them off.  Did you get stung?  I've actually never gotten stung by a bee.  Been stung by wasps/yellowjackets about 50 times but never a bee.

Lived in a basement apt. in Manhattan that had wolf spiders.  Probably had to kill 6 or 7 of them in the 1 year that I lived there.  Extremely terrifying.  A couple of them got under the couch and when I got down on the ground and shined the flashlight under I could see their giant glowing eyes staring back at me.  You can call me pussyish if you want, but when a bugs eyes are big enough that you can tell they are staring right at you, its terrifying.

i'm pretty much scared of any living creature that i have not personally had at least a few hours of face to face contact/conversation with.

Yeah.  I spray it on the baseboards twice a year and in our (also) unfinished basement.  We have some big daylight windows in the basement that seem to serve as a secret spider entrance to our abode.  There are always dead ones right under the window so it seems to keep killing them as long as you re-apply every 6 months.  That centedpede was still crawling around but he may have just got in or something.  Or, maybe it's not effective against centapedes...though I think there was a picture of one on the bottle iirc.  Also, have never seen a single non-flying insect in the finished portion of our house so that's a good sign.

I can also vouch for this stuff.  Spray around the foundation outside of your house too.  When we first moved into our house we had a problem with camel crickets*...now I spray 3 or 4 times a year and we rarely see any bugs (and when we do I know its time to spray again).

*unlike most insects, camel crickets jump toward you not away from you...and the little frackers can jump...just be aware

Saw a HUGE wolf spider on my bed one time....the worst part...didn't f'n kill it. Raided the hell outta the bed, and didn't sleep there again for 4 days. Sucker had to be at least 3 inch diameter.
