    The very best.
what do you think about those new balance running commercials. roll your eyes or adorable?
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

haven't been watching enough TV I guess.

Is there a youtube link for a specfic one you are referring to?

FWIW, I have ran out of patience with New Balance to make a lower profile shoe that doesn't weigh 2 oz more than Asics for a stability shoe. NB's 1223 and 1224 are totally geared to a runner that weighs over 180 lbs. Don't like either one of them. They feel clunky.

Might try out Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS as that is the shoe that alot of the lighter weight runners have been raving about lately.

I have also heard good things about Saucony Progrid myself.  I like my Asics so far.  But only have about 50 miles on them right now.

Ooooh, I'd like to hijack this thread for shoe advice.  I am a runner over 180 lbs.  Slight supination.  Any recommendations, please?

I'm also hijacking this thread:  I'm in the worst shape of my life.  Considering taking up running but I've always sucked at it.  At the gym I hit the bike/weights/elliptical/stairmaster like a lame-o.  What is the key to starting to run when you've never run distances over a quarter mile before?

frequent walk breaks...the key is the duration of the exercise...not that you are running the whole time. Instead of approaching it as running a quarter mile...think, I'm going to run 200 meters slowly.. then walk 400 meters. Alternate that until it feels like you could have kept running after 200 meters and build from there. You'll notice big changes in the first few weeks.

My wife started out not being able to run more than 4 minutes at a time...now she's up to a half hour in about a month and a half. Once you've locked it into your mind that you can run 30 minutes at a time you have the mental confidence to go farther.  Best of luck.

The Asics line of stability trainers would work for you. The New Balance 1224's would work too.

Go to Manhattan Running company here in town. Those guys are really knowledgeable and will make you a nice deal.

some people are simply prone to running injuries...but the vast majority of them are caused by too much running too soon. You have to ease into it.

agreed...but that's the hardest part...balancing running too much (because it feels so good, and you are on a roll) vs being patient.

Maybe this only kicks is once you have the ability to run a bit, but I always caffeinate before exercise.  The Times recently had an article saying this OK -- or even a good thing.  Caffeine and loud music is what allows me to run at the end of a long day.
