on top of  :AA: and the upcoming ability to nuclear-ly take out our rival along with their entire state, i thought i would make a list of some changes you may not be aware of this summer in mhk (feel free to add on to it):
1. parking garage-- not finished (of course) but atleast it looks like it goes better with the campus than the union did
2. 2 SONICS
3. 2 walgreens
4. new roof on the president's house
5. claflin has been repaved-- it's gorgeous!
6. no tanks-- now i'm really going to need a fake
7. Bed Bath and Behond --great for your back to school supplies
8. Petco-- just a necessity
9. asians-- everywhere

The thing I always loved about "Tanks" Tavern was the horrible grammatical incorrectness of the name.  Sad to see it go.

my dear god. everybody in the free world apparently wants to live and work in manhattan kansas. this is just getting insane. mhk is going to turn into colorado and i will get to be the incredibly cool coloradoan who will be making fun of all the people who are living in mhk but weren't actually born there or grew up there. can't wait.

me- "nice to meet you, where are you from originally?"

loser/non local- "illinois"

me- "lol. seriously? don't really know anybody that's ever actually been there. sorry, but lmao"

loser/non local- "yeah, it's not really that bad."

me- "sure it's not. how long have you lived in mhk?"

loser/non local- "two years."

me- "lol. later."

MHK also has about the lowest unemployment numbers in the country.  I don't even know what Tanks was.

It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

me (thumbing through Blue M, dialing phone with 785 area code, wearing MHS Phys Ed T-shirt) hey, RD who is your friend there?

RD - some dood from IL, he says its not so bad.

me- yeah, I've been there.  It's stressful and there is higher unemployment than here in MHK.

RD - (to IL poser) don't ever lie to me again.  friends off.

hyvee scuttlebutt: Chinese kitchen: confirmed

opening = aug 11 6am.

chinese kitchen- better than dillons. not as good as chef.

hyvee breakfast- really pretty good. very cheap. hyvee smothered hashbrowns = probable best breakfast food ever.

hyvee pizzas- pretty decent. only really worth getting when they run a bogo on them or something.

hyvee meat place- fan freaking tastic. wanna buy just one bratwurst? no problem. they'll even wrap it in butchers paper for you. chicken griller things. loaded taters. fresh jalapenos sliced in half w/ cheese in them. really, really, really good here. can not state how much better this will be.

great news. you can't expect it to be better than chef, just can't wait to see what will happen w/dill's chinese disaster kitchen.

wal-mart vs hy-vee thoughts?

Interesting FFF Note: I'am more familiar w/SchnKSU (St. Louis based grocery store) than hy-vee. Pretty humiliating but i'm secure enough to admit it here.

everybody that works at hyvee is just so dang nice. it's almost like hyvee purchased a bunch of robot computers, dressed them in blue shirts and then programmed to work at hyvee and be dang nice to people. i'm sure hyvee is prob more expensive but gosh.

health food section with whey protein? No idea. You don't actually buy that stuff?
red box? Nope. One a mere 200 yards away @ wallgreen

Chinese, itallian, "delicasean", deli, salad, seafood, breadery....it was ridiculous. I felt like I was at some elite SFO grocery store. Except it's 24 hours!
