It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

yeah. kinda did see that. didn't think that much about it i guess. prob time for him to hang it up ya know. in all fairness he prob coulda been fired for like 100 different things over the last twenty years anyway.

i've got a friend that lives in manhattan and coaches highschool football in a neighboring town. i'll ask him for any gossipy type stuff when i see him next. might be a while though.

Not positive but I'm pretty sure that he retired and wasn't actually fired. - Former MHS Sophomore team wide receiver

pretty sure he still wanted to coach. can't remember exactly, but got the idea that he didn't exactly leave on his own accord.

I think Schartz was tired of waiting and it was time for Butch to leave, and didn't the AD (forgot his name) bring Schartz here w/ him.

Butch was fired as coach, like, A MONTH AND A HALF AGO.

Then in what clearly was an effort to push him out of MHS entirely, Principal McCarty 'reassigned' him from teaching weights at the West Campus like he always had, to teaching health at the ninth grade center next year.  A real kick to the dick, and Butch was like, "eff this, me and my tiny ankles are walkin'."  And he retired.  Then since he didn't get an official grand retirement party, some MHS football parents honored him with a goodbye pig roast at Pott 2.

Don't you people read the Manhattan Mercury?  And by "you people," I mean the blacks.

good butch albright story #1- a know a guy who on his birthday was held down by people in the weight room and hit/spanked w/ weight belts etc. anyway albright took his chew/dip out of his mouth and stuck it in my friends mouth. pretty sure that wasn't cool. pretty sure teachers shouldn't be doing that. dunno for sure though, i'm not a teacher.

The AD is Marsh. Definitely did not bring in Schartz with him. Marsh was the ninth grade center principal before being AD. Schartz is garbage. - Former student in Schartz's ninth grade PE class
