Too many colors, the hills or mountains or whatever they are look stupid, and apparently the plane is flying sideways.  The other two options or even BC's other pic are waaaay better.

Well for starters they don't take advantage of color.  Also the jets are completely unrealistic looking.  They look like something from webdings.

That's well and good for an airport of that size, but a local regional airport need to portray a warm, welcoming image.  My design does just that, it doesn't intimidate the flyer like the others can.

yeah, that was my guess too. if it was that important they should have asked people designing logos to incorporated it. i bet it was the only entry with MHK so they had to pick it by default.

Color is a primal attention grabber.  The best artists use color to invoke emotion.  Manhattan is a cornucopia of color, so I decided to have that reflected in my logo.
