go where i just went.  http://www.careyes.com.mx/
not too expensive to stay or get there.  really cheap once you're there.  nothing to spend money on because no shopping other than resort store.
i want to go back to there soon.

That looks amazing.  Any idea what the surrounding inland country is like?  Desert?

ya it's pretty arid.  wouldn't really call it desert but it's certainly very dry and wouldn't think you could do much with it- lots of uneven terrain and really thick brush.  saw a plantain farm about 30 minutes north but it had installed irrigation equipment, that's the only green I saw around there.

Did you drive from PV?

Maybe I'm a puss but I'd be  the whole drive down.

everywhere in mx is dry this time of year.  the rainy season starts in june.  transformation is amazing.

My uncle used to own a resort at Ambergris Caye, Belize. It's a little island, and the official language is English.  :angryMJ: It's Tiger Woods' favorite vacation spot. There's a movie theatre at the town San Pedro that's on the top floor of a building. They charge a dollar and play movies that they download on the internet.

my fav place.  Where you staying?

don't know yet. just booked flights yesterday. lots of options though apparently. only going for five days  :frown:

any suggestions? thinking about a couple of days at an all inclusive and then a couple of days at place either downtown or by the marina. have you been to the marina area? is it good enough to give an idea of the area or do we need to go into town?

It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Waiting for Southwest airlines to publish schedule for flight to Tampa in February.  Then will decide whether or not the price difference will be worth it.

I was downtown both times. Doesn't really matter where though. Taxis are cheap and have flat rates. There's also a bus that is like pennies to ride. I would also shy away from all inclusive. The town is great food is great etc

pm'd you my best tip.

i could give a couple of rest./hotel recommendos for a budget conscious traveler, if useful.  don't know how budget conscious you are.

I'll be in Venice in two weeks.

On the first travel weekend we're hitting Florence, Cinque Terre, Genoa, and Rome.

I'll be posting all about it. Expect it to suck terribly compared to the Phuket, Thailand thread.

Bless the train system!!!

I'll be in Italy in two weeks also.  Milan-Venice-Naples-Florence-Rome-Positano.  :D

I know hitting all those places in one trip is a noob way to go, but what the Frank, I am a noob (and who knows if I can make it back when I get old and fat).  :bootyshake:

Don't you get abducted/murdered when you go to Mexico nowadays?  :ohno:
