Should be some good SLTH quotes from Doc after the game.

Maybe, but aTm got a big boost.  They have a very good chance to finish at least 8-8 in the league now, which may be enough to get them into the tourney.  If they get to 9-7, they'll be in ahead of us faster than you can say "Turd," thanks to their non-con and what would be a regular season-ending win over Mizzou.

All of a sudden, chances are looking very good for the Big XII to get 5 teams in:  ku, OU, Mizzou, Texas, OSU, and aTm.

Really?  I honestly was thinking that would help our road victory more than our hopeful  :hope: home victory this Saturday.  :dunno:

Here's the thing....DeCoursey (sp?) has been going on and on about how your conference standing doesn't mean crap.  It's about the quality of your wins and losses.  A team we have beaten, on the road mind you, beat a team we lost to on the road.  Isn't that good?

They'd (nu) need to win out and grab a conference tourney win just to make 20 wins.  a&m has ISU, @CU, and MU remaining.  Seems pretty soft.  Could go 9-7.

No.  aTm has much better RPI, SOS, non-con than we do.  It's just like our position with Texas.  Our win over the team won't mean jack diddly squat when they throw the numbers up on the screen.  If aTm would have finished 7-9 it would have been much better for us.

Edit:  I just reread and see what your point is.  Yes, it will help our resume if aTm finishes higher in RPI.  However, this is probably offset by the resulting dip in NU's RPI (X2, since we play them twice) and the benefit aTm gets from another W in their W-L record.

TAMU's RPI is 35 points higher than ours.  And just got another boost.

At 9-7, they're definitely in over us at 10-6.  Probably in no matter what over us at 8-8.

ESPN after the game made it sound like Big 12 gets 4 in and K-State is not one of them, said we had lots of work to do, Mu is a must win.

Big 12 might get more than 4, but it will be up to us; tonight was a dagger for NU and ATM is probably too far gone.

yeah. that three killed us. their rpi is up to fracking 34.  :frown:
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Always enjoy these...

A little critical of Doc...

Quote
For starters, NU never looked to attack the A&M press after breaking it. I’m not saying run out of control, but after not scoring for a long time, attack the rim and get some free throws.

On the same topic of offense, Nebraska AGAIN was WAY too passive WAY too early. The entire season, whenever NU runs a crisp offense and DOESN’T obsess over the shot clock, it generally gets a good shot.

When NU’s intent is to run 25 seconds or more, it 9 times out of 10 throws up a three-pointer, a contested fade away jump shot or a desperation layup that gets blocked. NU doesn’t have the playmakers nor the size to run the shot clock down that early in the game.

Clearly they fear the 'Gon...

Quote
And now, the Huskers face the daunting task of getting back up off the mat and heading into a sold out Bramlage Coliseum Saturday night. A loss there and NU is battling for 7th place and firmly on the NIT bubble.

it's really looking more and more like this.  either win out or go 10-6 and get to the conference tourney.  I can't figure out which of those two scenarios would be more of a long shot.    If we won out we'd win 2 road games @MU and @OSU.....but if we made it to the conf championship, we'd probably go in as a 4 seed and have to beat UT (probably) and ku/OU.

it kind of mirrors '06/07.

'06/07: it was Yippie we got Huggins...we almost lost to freaking washburn....csu....new mexico.....yippie we get walker....punk usc, revenge on new mexico...frack me walker's hurt....win streak...beat rival....ku loss...win/loss/win/loss/win....win one in the tourney....utter disappointment.
