It sounds like this deal with the braves is going to happen, there is also talk of teahen/guillen for escobar/francour.  I wouldnt be upset with that.

An excellent deal if you ask me... Move Teahen and bring Gordon back now or just simply place bloomquist there for a week or 2 until Gordon is fully ready, move guillen and you have Francour to fill his spot.

I like this deal because if it goes down we will never see Tony Pena Jr. ever again. More than likely he would have to be cut...

There is absolutely no team that wants jacobs.  I bet the only possibility is back to the NL.  That's a trade I was excited for that didn't pan out.

His defense is just about as worse as his offense. His stock is about as low as you can get right now for a power hitting lefty...

Cubs trade INF-OF Freel to Royals

CHICAGO (AP)—The Chicago Cubs have traded utilityman Ryan Freel to the Kansas City Royals for a player to be named.

The 33-year-old Freel started the year with Baltimore and later was traded to the Cubs. He’s been injured this season and was batting .140 overall when Monday’s trade was made.

The Royals also get cash to help offset Freel’s salary. He was expected to join Kansas City for Tuesday night’s game at Detroit.

Freel has started at five positions in his career, playing the infield and outfield.

Freel has 6 hits in 43 at-bats, World Series here we come!  :dancin: :royals:

I think there will be more to that deal than people think... just a heads up...

Edit: Nevermind this is just a stupid deal. I guess he will fit right in with the Royals with his .140 batting average.

Edit #2: Looks like he is being brought in to fill in for Teahen until Gordon returns... look for Teahen to be moved within the next week probably sooner...

Braves Not Likely To Move Escobar
By Drew Silva [July 6, 2009 at 5:15pm CST]

We've picked up on a few rumblings recently concerning the Braves' Yunel Escobar.  From the Red Sox having interest to the Royals "coveting" the shortstop, the rumors have been flying.  Well, MLB.com's Mark Bowman would like to set the record straight:

"Look I understand the entertainment value of the rumor market that will swirl over the next few weeks leading up to the trade deadline," Bowman wrote Monday evening.  "But at the same time, I think it's time to take Yunel Escobar's name out of the mix.

Teams have certainly called to express interest in Escobar and with his stubborn personality the talented shortstop has given the Braves at least reason to ponder the possibility of moving him.

But from what I've gathered, the Braves have zero desire to move Escobar."

The 26-year-old shortstop is batting .405 with runners in scoring position this season and leads the Braves with 42 RBI.  Oh, and he's costing the club just $425K this year.

Well that settles that. Yay, more TPJ!!!  :royals:

If worse comes to worse we will start talking to the brewers... they have a talented ss in the minors who will probably never see the majors unless it is with another team which is why I think we start talking to them...

If Greinke wasn't with the Royals this season, who do you think would be representing KC in the all-star game?

Olivo or Soria, maybe butler... all pretty equal in ratings... If I had to choose I'd send Butler because he has been the most consistent.
