Here is how I remember the conversation we had. You and some friends wanted to go to Bangkok Thailand. I mentioned that I really did not like BKK that much and asked "what are you looking for"? Then, as I assumed, you want to go for the girls and cheep girls were not a problem and actually prefered. At that time I suggested that if you were going to go to Thaliand then one night in BKK was enought and I would not spend to much time there as the really place to be is Pattaya. All correct so far?
If so then I will proceed with that thought. Keep in mind that you shoudl spend some time studying the internet and if you have some questions beyond my ideas you can just ask me to confirm. This outline wil be primary tailored for chasing cheep girls, lots of booze and a guys trip to Thailand.
 
August is some time away so you should be able to get a really cheep fair either thru a agent or online. The fastest way is to fly Wichita to Chicago (2 hours with 3 hour layover in Chicago) Chigaco to Hong Kong (14.5 hours) and then Hong Kong to BKK (3.5 hours). Not sure what the layover time in in HK before you can get to BKK. The flight From Chicago to HK arrives at 6:30 evening if it is not late. There should be a flight to BKK that night but I am not sure.That will be the most direct flight. If you fly United then they are a partner with Thai Airways and they will be able to book the entire flight for you. It might be a little more expensive but it might be alot more convienent. You wont have so much to worry about if the flight is dealyed or they loose your luggage or have problem transfering or who knows what. You can check different airlines and compare rates. I would suggest that since you have about 21 hours flight time + some layover time you try to keep it simple. I am not sure what the layover time in in HK before you can catch the flight to BKK. Try to not stay in HK. If you have to stay the night to make the connection to BKK let me know and I will tell you where to go play in HK. Likewise on the return try to make as few as conections as possible. You will be pretty wore out comming home and the jet lag will be bad enough without having to be stuck in HK, Tokoyo or worse yet Chicago or LA for the night. Everyone will speak English in Hong Kong if you do get stuck there for the night or have any problem.
 
Anyway, now maybe 24-30 hours later you are in BKK Thailand. You should stay one night there. Look on the internet and try to find a mimimum of a 4 star hotel near Patpong and Patpong night market. If they tell you it is 10-15 minutes by taxi that is ok. Unsually in this part of the country 10 minutes = 30 minutes. Stress to the 10 minutes by taxi and you should be OK. I alwasy stay at the Sheraton. It is a full 5 star and a little pricey. about $150 usd per night. The will sent the Mercedes to the airport to pick you up for about $50usd. Kind of nice after a long flight. You should be able to get other 4 star international in the Patpong area for $70-$90 USD per night that will send a car to the airport to pick you up also.
 
Patpong 2.
 I think that Patpong 2 is the area where it is only massage parlors. I think I just went there one time for not long. Big and small with these big rooms where you go in and look at the girls behind the glass all stacked up where you can see them. They have no names. Only numbers. So you can pick one or 2 or 3 or 4 and do whatever you want. I have been to these places to look but never touched. Many people do but I have heard so many stories about the guys going in thinking it was so much $$$ and leaving only in a their underware. It happens. These places are all some run by some kind of criminal outfit and you must be careful. Not saying you cant go there and have alot of fun and get out cheep. Just be careful. You are only there for one night so tell anyone that ask you only want to go to Patpong 1.
 
Patpong 1.
This is where I always went. Alot of bars, KTV's, massage parlors and night market for all kind of fake shirts watches ect. They have the big massage parlors there to. It is all concentrated into about a 5 street area. This palce has many dance bars with nice bad girls. The girls come from all over Thailand. You will find from age 18-30. There are also some discos that have alot of girls there. Anyplace here that is JUST a bar you can feel free to just walk in and take a look. They will try to get you to buy a beer right away but you can tell them you are looking and then stay or go. No problem. Just go to the bars and have fun bouncing in and out of them all. Take it all in. They close at 2 so have fun. Be careful of the KTV's. You have never been to KTV's so I recommend you dont go as they are mostly designed to milk you of as much cash as possible. They will try to scam you and so you best just focus on pulling the girls out of the bars and not the KTV's and the massage place. It is more fun, there is more selection, it is cheeper, and there is always the thrill of the chase. To pull a bar girl out will cost about 400 bhat for the bar fine= $10usd then all night asking price is $2000 bhat=$50 usd. She likes you and it is late you can get all night for $1000=$25 usd. You have to make her feel special and dont lead on like you are a first timer to Asia. If you only want to do short time you can have 1 hour in the rooms above the bar for I think $400 bhat. I never went for short time. I always find the special girl of my dreams and make her feel like I love her and cant live without her. Things are just so much better when a Thai girl thinks that someone really cares. You will learn.
 
Pattaya.
Pattaya is about a 2 hour drive from Bangkok. It is on the ocean. The beach is small and the water not so great. They have all the beach type stuff you would expect but the action is in the bars and on walking street and adjoining bars. This is truely the most wild place in all of Asia. Nothing like it in BKK, HK, Vietanm, China or anywhere else I have been to. Imagine a town that is full of bars and women looking for someone to love. Girls from all over Thailand all go to Pattaya or BKK. There are so many places there to go, so many bar streets and then there is walking street with all of the adjoining bars. Your problem will be which bueatiful girl to take home. There is just to many. You will never see any place like this. I stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel for I think $60 or $80 a nite but it was peak season. There are many hotels and I would try to get something like a 4 star between the Hard Rock and walking street. Chech the internet and you will see hotels and maps of the city. You dont have to be right on the ocean drive like the Hard Rock is. One block behind is fine. They have these taxis that hold about 10 people and they do a loop around the hotel zone to walking street. You can ride for about 10bhat. The bars generally are  suppose to close at 2 but some stay open till 4 and you can find some after hours places if you meet the right girl that are open till 6-8 in the morning. If you want to say out all night you should try to find a real sweety by 1 or 2 and have her take you to all the party places and then stay all night with you. These girls are generally nice and as long as you dont act like a cheepskate you can have alot of fun. Keep in mind $40 bhat to 1 usd. You can go to the dancing girl bar and give out 10 Bhat to the girls and they are very happy. You can buy a beer for 80 bhat. you can take your new sweety to a restraunt that serves real Thai food as she wont want the expensive tourist restaraunt, and feed her for 60-80 bhat. Then take her to the hotel and have a nice nite and stay all day the next day by poolside for max 2000 bhat and maybe less. You are going there to have the time of you life so take some free spending money and try to see it all. If you hook up with a few girls who think you are fun and dont mind feeding them and buying drinks you will really have a good time. Everyone speaks english so it is easy. You dont have to worry about going into a bar in Pattaya and getting scamed as long as you dont do anything stupid like go to some bar off the beaten track by yourself  when you are drunk and go upstairs with some agressive girl. Chances are this will result in a great story to tell and more likely than not a big problem for you. You can have the hotel car take you back to the BKK airport for the depressing and sober flight home.
 
You can easily spend a week or 2 in Pattaya if you like to get drunk and chase a new girl every night. I think that you will go for 3-5 days and wont want to leave, you will be depressed to go home, you will have stories and pictures that people wont believe and you will make plans to come back again. You will be able to navigate around easily since everyone speaks english. You get your visa when you get to the airport. You dont need a visa for HK just in case you get stuck there for the night.
 
I would like to go back there myself. I will possibly be able to go but it is to far off for me to decide now. You should plan to go and then if the time comes up then I will know a few weeks before if I can go. I will probably be in China in August so for me to go there is just a 5 hour flight from Shanghai. Check alot of this out in the internet and ask if you have any more questions. My next email will be short.

always fun to ball out in a 3rd world country.  everything is so ridiculously cheap.  like food is worth less than 1.50, and i never know how much to tip cause it feels weird tipping what is worth .50 usd or so.  anyways heard in laos they have this thing where you live in treehouses for a week, and zipline in between, and the purpose of it is to try and find some kind of monkey.  might try it.  and be douchey about it when i tell ppl of course.

i need to get in the habit of taking pics.  only have one where i have an iguana on my head.
