1. Make Hunter Cantwell look like a Sophomore

The Cardinals lead the country in scoring offense and total offense and are the only school to average at least 250 yards rushing and 300 yards passing. But most of that came with QB Brian Brohm (left) running the show. He’s out because of a thumb injury.

2. At the very least keep doing what we're doing in the running game

When opponents rush for fewer than 100 yards under coach Bobby Petrino, Louisville is 18-0. K-State rushed for 99 yards in its Marshall win.

3. Slow down Mario Urrutia. It's not how many yards he gets.....It's where he gets them.

A main threat is 6-6 receiver Mario Urrutia, who averages 23.4 yards per catch and has two TD receptions of 50 yards or more.

Attack the corners.  Louisville's corners or at least their scheme is weak.  Kentucky had 4 or 5 deep chances in their game against the Cards and the QB missed a throw or the WR missed a catch.  Meier can't afford to miss these opportunities if he wants to keep us in the game.  If Meier can make a couple of these big plays and the special teams adds a score along with solid defense, we have a chance. However, we need all of these things working to stay in and we haven't up to this point.  I'm a hopeful fan, I'll go with KSU 37 UL 31.  I have to pick KSU to win or I would hate to be right.

Here's an interesting stat.....

The last time the Cardinals were ranked in the top 10, last September, ninth-ranked Louisville went to South Florida and got hammered 45-14.

1. Cantwell was 18-26 for 173 yards with a TD and a pick. We knocked him around but he just kept coming at us. Gotta give him props for that.

2. We had 108 yards rushing but all but 39 of that came on one play. Enough said.

3. Urrutia only had 2 catches for 14 yards. It was Harry Douglas who did the damage today.

I thought we were in serious trouble when they scored so easily to start the game but we really went toe-to-toe with them the rest of the way. It REALLY hurt that we didn't get at least a FG on that drive at the end of the first half. We got the turnovers we needed but just couldn't get anything going to cash them in. The one thing that really baffled me was the halfback pass that we attempted early that was picked off. That seemed like a "panic" play call and at that time it sure didn't seem like it was time to panic.

I gotta agree with Coach Prince and say that I'm proud of the way the team competed today. I think this team proved that they can play with anybody. I'm very optimistic about the rest of the season.
