IT IS NEVER APPROPRIATE, for a teacher in any setting to take shots at students. NEVER NEVER. If it's a friend, a classmate, or anyone else, I agree with you but it is unethical for an isntructor to ever call out a student, shouldn't even be doing it in a joking manner, but that's typically acceptable if it's not constant.

If our university is going to embrace MCMW, it starts with the Administration at the top, in Anderson Hall.
Welfald needs to make it clear to every member of our faculty that MCMW is not only our creed, but our blood.

Goldy, how come you didn't go to ku?? I mean, I know you said you don't mind K-State academically but I would still think that you would want to be around your own kind in Lawrence rather than here in Manhattan. but then again, you do spend a lot of time on this board..

I wanted to go into Computer Science. Kstate's engineering school = excellent. However, I transfered out and stayed at Ksu trying other majors.

Contrary to what some toolbags may tell you, I do have friends here. And I like Manhattan. I liked it more before Big Red One. I grew up in a catbacker town. I know lots of hardcore Kstate fans and I've debated with them all my life. I've come to love the in-state rivalry. Especially now that ku and Ksu are evening out in football and its not a '64-0' game. Arguing and internet debating over sports = entertainment.

i haven't really noticed any ill effects cuased by big red one other than traffic. but i attribute that to the crapty construction more so than anything else..

As a faculty member, I don't necessarily embrace MCMW, but understand it and tolerate it (from a sport perspective).  Going to Coffeyville quickly brought me up to speed on this issue.
