So I will probably get jumped for this but I think our defense is starting to come around.  Wait don't kill me yet let me explain.  After watching and rewatching every game so far I have come to the conclusion that the game was/is too fast for most of our D-line and LB corp.  This includes Campbell.  We aren't missing tackles we are missing angles thus missing tackles.  Too many times I feel that we are about a half a step off when we reach the ball carrier thus missing the tackle. As the season has gone on we have gotten better. We are still aways off but at least we are progressing.

Excuse me..... I'm not a sock!  I'm on here watching everyday as people like yourself won't look for anything good in K-State.

I agree.

The defense is just not being taught well, but seem to be figuring it out.  Whether it's because of the coaching or the players asking friends playing for other schools on what they do, we simply don't know.

Isn't it funny how the Snyder Bandwagoneers jump all over someone with a different opinion.  I'm not a sock..I'm not a powertard.. I have bleed purple since the age of 3.  This is when my family moved to Manhattan and my father went to K-State to get his PHD...That was 1976.  I have seen bad K-State football and this isn't even close.

We gave up over 400 yards passing to the worst offense in the league and that is a step in the right direction for you?  Good expectations there chief.

To be fair it was against the 3rd worst offense in the league... We play the worst offense in the league this weekend...

when players are too slow to get to a spot, you really can't start to "come around".  They lack the physical ability needed to play the game of football in the Big 12, brother.  They might not even be able to hack it in intramurals.  Seriously, if you put Ulla and Sekona out there in fraternity flag football, they wouldn't even come close to touching a flag.

If you actually looked at the stats and the game.  We were up by 17 going into the second half. They had 276 passing yards in the second half because they were behind and never ahead of us. Plus they got 55 of those yards on one play.  This means they had only 143 yards in the first half.  Look I'm not saying we are great.  We are far from it.  But there is progress.

Would you call it progress if the team we played last weekend had Arkansas State on their uniforms rather than aTm?

    Hey, basketball!!!
Dude, Hartman starts @ safety for us. Until he is replaced were are still going to be 110th or higher in total defense.

And even with him not on the field we will still be in the hundreds. :blindfold:

So I guess the great Ian Campbell is now too slow as well?  I think you have it backwards.  We have the speed but erveryone thinks they can beat the player to the spot like they did in JuCO instead of taking the angle.  If and when they ever figure that part out our D will show up.  If we have a bad week against a slow offence in CU then I will eat my words.  But you rewatch the games you will see progress albiet small progress.

Absolutly not.  The speed in the BIg XII is superior to Ark State.  ULL will crush Ark State watch.  The game versus UNT and Montana State proved nothing.  Our guys could beat the ball carrier to the spot with our speed.  If you watch the games from that point on you will see progress.  I'm not saying Prince doesn't need to put up or shut up. I'm saying I see progress not like last year when the D collapsed.

No, Ian is weak at the point of attack.  Always has been.  It was just hidden a bit better when he was rushing off the end and wasn't getting knocked the f around like he does in the 3-4 when Tibs has him lining up on the outside shoulder of the f'ing guard.

Ulla, Sekona, and Houlik, combined have to have the worst feet in the history of linebacking at KSU.  I'd probably take Matt Butler, Ted Sims and Marvin Simmons before those 3.  They not only can't get there, but in the off chance that they do, they're getting suplexed by a blocker.

We just played THE worst offense in the Big 12 (well, that was until they played us, now they are are 11th) and gave up 30 points and over 500+ yards for the the 4th straight week this season.  This defense hasn't give up less than 30ppg to a BCS team since 10/27/07 (Baylor).

No I'm not saying they suck. I'm saying the don't have the same speed as A&M.  If you don't use your speed right you have to use the angles.  In additonal the game was 18-14 and was 9 - 14 going into the 4th quarter.  At that point A&M is probably playing not to lose so they aren't gunsling the ball around.  We were protecting a lead a play a "soft" cover.  Watch the game you will see we didn't want to give up the big play.

Watching the game right now Campbell so far has lined up on the outside shoulder of the tackle.  That's the how the 3-4 is played.  The DE line up on the outside of the tackles and the NT lines up on eith side of the center between the gaurd and center.

What part don't you understand. He said that Tibs has Campbell lining up inside the guard and tackle.  Well so far in the A&M game he is lined up outside the tackle because that's how you play the 3-4.  Your MLB opposite the NT will pick up the extra gaurd, the NT is supposed to pick up the gaurd and the center.  Leaving the DE's one on one with the tackles.  Watch San Diego or the Cowboys or New England play the 3-4.

Look, I'm not going to  give excuses.  500 yards is 500 yards.  But I do get the point of this thread and the context of quite a bit of those yards.  With less than 5 left we're sitting at about 350 yards, 16 points and protecting a 21 point lead.  Granted the 150 yards and 14 points to finish is a bit rediculous, but I'm willing to see at least a glimmer in that performance for the first 55 minutes of the game.  Still a long, long way to go, but perhaps a sign we can at least slow a team like CU down.

ksu_FAN that's exactly what I'm trying to say.  We have had too much negativity to this team.  We have a long way to go and I have no clue if Prince can get us there.  But there has been progress.  We need to win 2 of 6 games to be possibly bowling.  This would be an improvemnt over last year no matter how you look at it.  With CU play as bad as they are and with ISU close to the same boat we can still get there.

Yeah, but I can see why a lot of our fan base has turned.  I'm pretty much there myself.  2200 yards in 4 games is something I never thought I'd see at Kansas State.  But I'm an optimist, so I try to see the best.  Its just a lot more difficult this year.
