Last night after church, I chatted with a friend of mine who happens to be a Kansas high school football coach.
What he told me blew my mind and just solidified my stance that Prince must go at all costs.
To begin: Ron Prince visited on a recruiting call for one of Tom's (not really my friends name, changed to protect the innocent) athletes. The visit was scheduled about a month prior to take place at 10:30 am. Tom sat in his office until about 10:45 waiting, about ready to give up, when Ron bursts through the door eating a breakfast burrito and dressed pretty much like a slob.
Without even saying hello, he shouts, "Well lets get go, I have three more kids to look at today."
Well Tom starts talking up the kid (lets call him Paul), telling Ron about his good school work and his extracurricular activities. He mentions Paul is in Young Life and FCA. At Ron Prince visibly rolls his eyes and says: "Whatever, you got any tapes?"
Tom is taken aback, but then explains that they do, but he needs to get the VCR and TV cart. Ron sighed and then took out his blackberry and said "Do it then." Tom paged the office and had an aide bring the cart.
As it turns out, the aide was a blonde freshman on the cheerleading team. As she turned around to leave Ron Prince leaned over and looked her up and down. He then made several lewd remarks to Tom about the girl and asked for her name!
Tom is now flabbergasted, but in shock he shows the tape. Ron is visibly distracted, texting on his phone and muttering comments every once in a while about how Paul looks good and has good form. Without finishing the tape Ron stood up and took a phone call. He was shouting to whoever was on the other side, again laced with obscenities. Tom told me that apparently Ron had double book visits and had to visit another kid in five minuted. Ron must have been cussing out his secretary.
Without shaking hands, Ron said: "Well, he's ok. If he can put on 25 pounds we might take a look later. If we're interested, we'll call. Don't call us." and then he left.
While telling me all of this Tom was visibly shaking with anger at how he and his school was treated. He said he had heard rumors from other coaches about Ron's lecherous nature toward the girls at the schools, but couldn't believe it was that blatent. I doesn't have to be said that this high school is no longer going to send any kids KSU's way in football. And from what Tom told me, he's not an isolated case.
The dots are getting connected.
