the o-line is weird. their conference stats will tell you that they are average to above average:
PPG - 3rd
Total Offense - 7th (but above OU who is 9th)
Sacks by - 2nd
Red Zone Offense - 3rd
it just couldn't run the ball or be very efficient:
Rush O - 8th
Pass Eff - 8th
3rd down conv - 10th
and it generally looked like crap at some key times last year (i.e. auburn, ku, isu, even the nu game). but we'd feel a lot better about our O if our D wasn't the second coming of suckage.
This can be explained by our extremely short-pass happy offense last year, and Jordy just playing amazing. Josh isn't going to get sacked often only taking three step drops and passing quickly.
When we get in a position that we have to make a long pass, like 3rd downs, then we get in trouble. We would often get blitzed, and even in the shotgun Josh wouldn't have enough time to go through his progressions and make the right pass.
The rushing was average at best, and honestly I think the only reason we had as good a season rushing as we did was because JJ played extremely well. I don't think the current schemes and recruiting being used by the coaching staff will ever get us a great run blocking line.
All that being said, our offensive line should be the best since 2003. I said that last year, and it was true. This year should be even better than last year. They won't be good by any means, but they'll be solid enough to allow our playmakers to shine..if they have the talent to shine.
