Last year it was the whole interior o-line... and ku went 12-1.  This year, it's the offensive tackles.  ku has plenty of depth with guys like Spikes, Hatch, Darton, Wolfe, D-Cunha, etc.  Spikes is the real deal at 6'6 310 and Hatch is too good to keep off the field.  Once again, the o-line and d-line are a huge strength of ku's football program.

Hatch is a stud... out of Texas powerhouse Dallas Carter.  He had offers to A&M, Texas Tech, Arizona, etc.  He's one of the most talented offensive lineman ku has recruited and will be starting at right tackle.  Spikes had offers to programs such as Illinois and Pittsburgh, and would have likely been offered by Ohio State if it wasn't for a knee injury his senior year.  Mangino has had nothing but great things to say about him.  This is the kind of talent that is coming up through ku's football program... outsiders will just have to wait and see for themselves.

Cantrell did have experience and was in his 4th year in the program...Mayes in his 4th year in the program.  Hartley was an upperclassmen.

And those three competed in a spread vs. similar body types w/ similar quickness.

They were not on an island facing often much smaller ends w/ far superior speed and quickness. 

Again, good luck to your freshman OT's.  For any other program but ku this spells trouble...but not where they just plug in freshman(on the hoops team) and things work out.  Seriously...me thinks a freshman in football is a bit different than hoops.
