I am sure I was not the only one who found it more than just a little bit odd that Michael Beasley signed with Kansas State, one of the most out-of-nowhere programs for a top recruit ever.

Yes, his AAU coach-slash-godfather does coach there (who, by the way, is now the highest paid assistant in the country at 450K a year for five years), but there were a lot more reasons to go to Kansas State.

Talk to any number of people close to the story, and they will most likely tell you the now infamous fairy tale-type story of what Beasley received to play ball at Kansas State for six months.

Most likely unbelievable to the average sports fan, Beasley is rumored to have received up to 120K in cash, as well as brand new 2008 cars for himself and his mother, a house in Manhattan for his family to live in, and to top it all off, a job for his mother.

It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Their is not enough money in the world to buy that kind of publicity & we got it for free.  I always wanted to be a program that could afford to pay their players, like Ohio State, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas etc.  I just assumed our fans were to cheap.  Major props to whoever put a crowbar in their wallet & came up with the cash. :woohoo:

That's the key right there.  If they had proof we might worry.  Sure some of it is probably true, but what do they have aside from hearsay and rumors?  OJ and Duh actually got caught and not much is happening over there anyway.  Everyone gets paid nowadays.

ku's gonna have to step up their cheating if they wanna be competitive with the big boys 5 years from now.  you may laugh now, but it's true.  the days of the wilt chamberlain "a grand here and a grand there" won't do it anymore.  hiring a recruits dad?  that's stone-age cheating.

It is when you're trying to hide giving it to a 19 year old you should appear mildly poor.

Do you know how difficult it would be for Michael Beasley to spend $120K in Manhattan?  Practically impossible because no one would make him pay.  They should've given him a high 6 figure account that was held in escrow until season's end or something.  Miami money, much better than blowing 6 figures on Jimmy Johns and Chipotle.

Couldn't their estimate be based on free products and services given?  So the 8$ he saved at sonic just goes towards the total?  That would make more sense.

I've known about this for a while btw. Look for a prominant KC law firm to get involved in the investigation pretty soon. I hear from my sources that major infractions are coming for Kansas State.

 :ohno:

Jayhox has predicted 3 of the last 0 major infractions.
“My arm gets tired from doing this,” said coach Bill Snyder, waving his arm.

Only a minimal amount of cheating is required for ku to be successful.  "Stone-age cheating" for ku still results in a National Championship.  Had KSU cheated at ku's level, KSU would have won five Big XII games.

For the record, I thought that quote was a dumpster dive.  Then again, it would've been a herculian undertaking considering the state of the scout board search function. :yuck:

We may have paid Beasley but this guy has nothing with his if you talk to someone close to the situation Beasley is rumored to have gotten cash, cars, houses, jobs etc.  Really going out on a limb there your sources say he's rumored to have gotten that stuff.  Everyone of those things has been written about in the newspaper this year.  Numorous articles about his mothers's job (receptionists at a doctors office) her house (small rented town home) whitlock wrote about his Hummer (never talked to anyone who ever saw him in a hummer) etc.  Hell I hope we did get his mother a job if we did frankly I'm pissed we couldn't do any better then a $12/hour gig at a doctors office.   ku did a hell of a lot better then that for the Chalmers family.  But what I don't get is if we really did give her a free place to stay a new car and 120K in cash then why did she need the $12 an hour job in the first place?  Her son was obviously going to be a multi millionare in a really short amount of time you think 120K with no rent to pay could tie you over for 6 months.

If you read the guy who wrote the article's bio, he's a manager for Duqeusne basketball, so it's probably best for him to not write articles about top basketball recruits getting paid. Dude probably realized how screwed he is if anyone important reads it and deleted it.

Anyone have any guesses on who he talked to or did he just shoot from the hip and make it up?  I'm going to go with Ryan Patzwald and for no good reason whatsoever I bet I'm right.

I would guess "shoot from the hip", he also casually mentions terrelle pryor committing to ohio state, because they were the highest bidder. He's pretty clearly not the brightest bulb in the world.
