My sources from both "front lines" say the following:
*Comment: O-line has a rash of injury problems. Analysis: This ain't exactly rocket science, these guys play hurt all the time, but given the severe lack of depth and talent this should be a big *gulp* moment. All indications (both stated and unstated) are that this will continue to be a MAJOR problem and improvement will be slow.
*Comment: The Defense looks better. Analysis: Not hard to do.
*Comment: The Secondary is "sick." Analysis: Good news and confirms our optimistic predictions. I think this is by far the most encouraging and concrete thing mentioned and makes me the happiest.
*Comment: LaMark can't catch Analysis: Like, at all. I don't know if this means he is destined for LB, but reports are he is just awful at catching. They say he could easily be the best receiver on the team if not for this fact. His speed, separation and size were all lauded.
*Comment: Brooks Rossman is a douche Analysis: Never takes the trash out, always finding ways to cheat at drinking games, often pops his collar, general tool.
*Comment: Leon Patton should not be the starter Analysis: Thomas is the O-line's choice. Although this is hit and miss. Previous O-line's raved about Sproles, but also had an early hard on for Parrish Fisher.
*Comment: Tight Ends are good Analysis: Did not pry, but this makes me hopeful for Cuba more than Mass-turd. Hard to figure/interpret.
*Comment: Snyder started losing players because he was too distant Analysis: Players have a good relationship with Prince. This is good. They are buying in. Everyone to a person believes they are going to be good enough to go to a bowl game. They are level headed about it (no "we are winning a National Title" ala Josh Scobey 2001) but they all fault Snyder (again, no doubt a lot of this is Prince charisma) for the down fall by being too distant in his relationships with the players. No one wanted to play for him (outside recruiting wise, and inside motivation wise) at the end. They also said it wasn't for lack of effort, because Snyder's 2005-6 practices were widely considered the most insane displays of punishment any had seen.
That's all for now. Will troll for more as the summer, and our lust for Kansas State Football rumor, fact and inside info, heats up.
