    Fear the Brick
tay may not be committed and you may hear rumors that he's falling out of love with manhattan, but fear not wildcat nation - there is hope.  i have seen it - in the form of a manhattanite brunette POA that was hanging out with him all afternoon.

best news of the tournament, imo.

Bass Elite and DCA both went out in the semifinals by a combined 3 points.  DCA played the last 2 minutes w/ 4 players due to fouling out 3/7 guys on their roster.  Texas Elite won the ship for the 17U.  Mokan KC won the 16U championship.

FWIW, I sat at the Classic since 9 this morning watching DC which I spent the whole day watching them. I did see the last Bass game of the day where Lat had a pretty good game lost by two at the end of it. Some stupid white kid dunked it at the buzzer to beat Lats team. I must say in DC's last game of the tourny McGruder shocked the arena down by twenty he and Darryl Traynham pretty much led a come back which resulted in a 96-95 final by far the best game of the tourny. McGruder and Judge impressed me a lot today, though Wally was hurting by the last game and fouled out with 8 minutes left. Also down 7 playing 4 on 5 since 3 players fouled out for DC McGruder hit a some key shots that almost brought that comeback into a win. I sat with his mom and sister at the rec center for 2 different games and was advised by them that McGruder, Judger, and Traynham had been super impressed with the Kstate fans showing the support, and fell in love with Manhattan, ALSO I got to speak to The coach of the DC team for about five minutes he said thanks to all the fans and was also impressed and thinks MANHATTAN was by far the BEST tournament atmosphere he has been in for a long time. He also thinks that any kid would probably love to play ball at Kstate with the fans the way they are, He also advised me while getting a tournament shirt that he is a pretty big fan himself. This blog is not about the stats but how impressive I think the DC team as a whole played, also that Wally, McGruder, and D-Trayn impressed me very much, we all have our complaints about what ever, but I believe we would be lucky to have all three in a few years. Also Lat had a good tourny and I was very impressed with him, a five star is always a good note for any team. I met a lot of good people this weekend and I am looking forward to many good years of basketball for state all we have to do is make it through this one with Clemente, Awaji, and Herrera, I think things are going to be just fine. One final note at the beginning of the first game this morning for DC, Judge came out with a Micheal Beasley Shirt on over his Jersey, which I guess was his way of showing thanks to KSU. Yesterday it was the purple shoes and the under shirt today it was the Beasley shirt. I love watching a team thats from over a 1000 miles away showing love for K-State.  :skillz:

One final note this one is about Terence Boyd there is a kid on DC that looked just like him wore number 11. Come to find out Boyd had finals to finish so could not come to the tourny, which per the coach broke his heart as he is a big fan and wanted to be here very badly, hearing this made me pretty happy. That would be another 4 star. FWIW.

Excellent posts dobbie.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Meek said Boyd is no longer DCA

Also talked in there about a Manhattan grad who might walk on.  He had impressive skills and size for a walk on.  Usually we get little guards to walk on, but he was about 6'8'' with some width to him.  He had flashes of good, and then flashes of "make me walk-on somewhere."  But he played strong for rebounds.  Needed more confidence and the ability to finish wasn't there.

Yeah, but he could have still played with them.  Just like Lat Will played with DCA last week, but was with Bass this weekend.  DCA sure could have used him since the had to finish the game with only 4 guys.

Its funny what Meeks says totally opposes what the coach as well as Mrs. McGruder said, its totally different not sure who to believe on this but per Coach and Ma McGruder he did not join the team due to finals so this is odd.

Boyd has been playing with Atheletes First all season.  He hasn't played with DCA at all this year, though he has in previous years.  That doesn't mean he can't play with whomever he wants whenever he wants.  I'm sure DCA wanted him to play with them this week and he just couldn't make it due to finals.  Doesn't mean anybody was wrong.

I agree with Yosh, but would take what anyone from DCA says with a grain of salt.  Not to say they aren't trustworthy, but there's always a bit of spin for an organization you're biased towards.

I trust Meeks that is why it kind if sucked to read he went to play with the other uk recruits on the other AAU team, but you all are probably right that DC wanted him to come play since they were short handed, would have been good for Boyd to see how much us state fans appreciated DC, anyway thanks for helping clear it up.

Manhattan Kid is Jackie Carmichael(sp?) One of the nicest guys I've met. Really good guy. Looking to go to Prep School and then walk-on somewhere.

Although, he's not the MCMW type...

You can't be racist and like basketball.
LOL @ people expecting guys traveling 1000 miles and playing 4 games in a day on 4 hours sleep to play like they're in the Final Four.
