Mac Irvin fell (to) Spiece Mo-Kan in dramatic fashion. In a tie game, Will Spradlin(g) was sent to the line for a pair of free throws with eight seconds left, and as he was all game, Spradlin(g) was money. The Kansas State pledge is one heck of a shooter, and despite the best efforts of the highly athletic Mac Irvin team, they couldn't stop Spradlin(g) from scoring. Whether it was off the catch or off the bounce, Spradlin(g) made plays and got his team the win.

spralding seems like the anti-new era ksu hoops player
Scout has a Spradling blurb now. Can't read it, but would love a recap.
Will Spradling, PG, K.C. MoKan: If you’re not the fastest or the biggest guy, you’ve got to come with other options and Spradling has an assortment. He’s got a bailout runner, a baseline floater and the toughness to make it all work. With eight seconds left against Mac Irvin, Spradling straddled the line and knocked down the two most important free throws of the contest.

sounds a lot like a longer, slower clemente.

USC and Clemson are among the schools going after 6-9 junior SF Brandon Mobley of Savannah. Both offered back in October and have remained heavily involved. "South Carolina has been recruiting me real hard," Mobley said. "They came to about three or four of my games. And they've been to my school to see me work out. Clemson also is on my strong and has been to my school."Mobley saw both teams play at the same time last season. He made an unofficial visit to USC when the Gamecocks played the Tigers. He has not visited Clemson. Mobley also has offers from Indiana, Cincinnati, Georgia, Missouri, Kansas State, Marquette and Kentucky. Mobley said he will schedule his official visits this fall with USC, Indiana, Kentucky, Kansas State and Cincinnati. He plans to make a decision before his season.Last season Mobley averaged 25 points, 14 rebounds and 8 blocks per game. He plays mostly center and power forward for his high school but has small forward skills, and the colleges like him for the three spot.
The days of watching former NBA great Tim Hardaway do the "UTEP two-step" on the basketball floor now live in our memories. But it might not be long before another player bearing that name again graces the television screen.Miami (Fla.) Palmetto shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr. is one of the up-and-coming players in the Sunshine State. A three-star prospect (and rising) according to Scout.com, Hardaway Jr. doesn't have dad's killer crossover, but he does have the type of all-around skill-set that is garnering interest from a number of major programs, including the University of Michigan."Coach Beilein came down here twice," said Palmetto head coach Chris Brown. "We've been in contact quite a bit. Coach B and (assistant) Coach Mahoney have done a great job recruiting him. They really like him. They think (Michigan) is a great fit for him because of their style of play and what they're looking for."The 2010 class will play a pivotal role in the perpetuation of Michigan's resurgence. Replacing DeShawn Sims and possibly even Manny Harris are major priorities. The addition of the 6-foot-5, 180-pound Hardaway could be a major part of the plan.Advertisement"They are looking at him as a Manny Harris type," said Brown. "He's somebody who can come in right away and be a big guard who can rebound, run off some screens, and hit the three. I think the 1-3-1 (defense) fits him well too because he's so long."Similar gameThere's reciprocal interest on Hardaway Jr.'s behalf, as well. After observing the Wolverines upset Duke during his December unofficial visit to Ann Arbor, the talented youngster gained a better appreciation for what a future in the Maize and Blue would look like."(Michigan) fits my game," said Hardaway. "It's just like at our school. We have constant ball movement, we pass the ball, we run a lot of backdoor cuts and we come off screens."Brown believes his talented pupil has a particularly strong chance to thrive in Beilein's offense. One of the requisite traits for every player in the veteran coach's system is the ability to shoot. Hardaway Jr. passes that test with flying colors."He can definitely flat out shoot it," said Brown. "He is a 6-5 guard with unlimited range. Plus he is very versatile. He plays the one, the two, and even plays the five at times for us. He likes to get up, defend, and get after it. I think what stands out most is that he can put the ball on the floor and he sees the floor well. He can do it all as far as the one through three at the next level."Michigan isn't the only school that is coveting that outstanding versatility. Minnesota and Kansas State have both offered, while Florida, South Carolina, Kansas State, Northwestern and Florida State are showing strong interest. The list could grow even more in the coming months if Hardaway does as well on the AAU circuit as pundits are predicting. Regardless of how numerous his suitors are, they all face they the difficult task of meeting the very high comfort threshold that has been established by Michigan."I don't think (Beilein) holds anybody back," said Tim Hardaway Sr. "He just wants to excel. He lets all of his ball players play the game of basketball. If you got a (open) jump shot, he wants you to take it. If you don't take it, he is yelling at you. He wants the team to play with confidence. He makes them play the right way. They pass the extra pass. They all dribble good. He just needs some athletes in there."I think the world of Michigan, and did before Beilein even got there," he continued. "It is a great academic school. They do a lot of great things with their athletes. The basketball program is coming back to life and the football program is too."Right directionHardaway Jr. clearly shares in his father's belief in Beilein and in the direction of the Michigan basketball program."He's a great coach and he's really interested in me," the younger Hardaway said of Beilein. "I trust him with everything -- with all my decisions. He is just a great coach. (Michigan) is definitely on top of my list. No question about it. I am going to start cutting down schools when school starts back next year and have my decision at the end of basketball (season) or maybe during."Hardaway indicated that his timetable is still somewhat tentative. However, if the recruiting process is indeed prolonged, it won't have anything to do with his father's rumored interest in coaching him in college."I'm not going to put no pressure on my son," Hardaway Sr. said. "I don't want to be a coach to him. I just want to be a dad to him. I've seen how it can tear up a home. It almost tore up ours already because I want him to excel so much. I do want to get into coaching, but now I just want to be a dad to him. If he asks me some questions -- if he wants me to go out there and show him some moves, I will. I still show him moves, show him what he needs to work on, and take him through drills and stuff. But I'm just a dad to him."A dad that strongly believes his son could experience a great deal of success in Ann Arbor.
