Outsider views on Walker/Beasley...

I was looking around a NYC hoops website to see if there was anything on Kilpatrick, or one of next year's best JUCO guards, Dwight Hardy.  I looked around on their message board and found this thread on Walker and a little on Beasley.  It is interesting to see a perspective from significant outsiders, mainly NYC hoops fans, on our players.  Now, most aren't kind at all toward either (I was a little surprised by the Beasley posts), but I'm sure part of that is the influence of media and the common stereotypes (some true, some not) of Walker and Beasley.

Interminator is hilarious.  I think the common stereotype of Beasley being immature will stick with him until he is in his 8th year in the NBA or something.  I swear to go he could save a bus full of nuns and they would still talk about his motivation for doing it and possible "character questions." 

I also really get annoyed with the commentary on the Walker peeing thing.  Nobody gets the context.

Guy #1-Why would Bill Walker pee in the middle of the game in front of everyone? Why can't he just quickly go to the locker room and handle his business?


guy #2-The same reason I piss while showering when the toilet is three feet to my left? Or when I'm outside smoking a cigarette (which I only do while drinking) when I could easily walk inside?

His on-court maturity? Or his maturity off the court? Because off the court he doesn't seem all that mature.

I think anyone who was concerned with his maturity coming into the season is just as stupid as those who still question it.

I have massive doubts about the maturity of any/all 17 to 18 year olds.  I personally thought the story about him and Lawson autographing as much stuff as they could to be pretty funny.  Lawson= character questions too then.

To be honest Beasley has been the victim of stereotypical beleifs about Black men and especially Black male athletes. The guy does not get in trouble and gets decent grades in school, yet he continues to be labeled a "thug" or "not a character guy". Really sad and ridiculous.....

Every day, they were cleaning my name off water fountains, ceilings, desks, offices -- whatever. I just thought it was funny."

Would it surprise you if it was all 3 of them?  Mike was 16 or 17 at the time and that story follows him.  Its crap.

Oh, I agree that it's stupid that they still bring up that incident. Most high schools would probably give a kid in-school suspension for something like that I would guess...

I forgot that that happened at Oak Hill and not Notre Dame Prep.
