He had a family member die in mid-season and worked his a$$ off for four years only to have some punk-a$$ fans make posts like this.  Typical "what have you done for me lately" KSU contingency.

No one is hating on him. Seems like a cool dude.

And one of the worst senior guards in big 12 history.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

he doesnt bother me.

he didnt take us to the championship, or lose us any games more than anyone else.

i compare him to LA. not too hot. not too cold. a nice 72. all year round.

I guess he (and blake) bother me because outsiders fail to realize how terrible they are, and still label us as a "talented" team which is laughable.

How about not blaming Clent Stewart for Bob Huggins' inability to recruit an outside shooter.

i sometimes resent sutton because people can point to his recruit ranking without understanding how much of an offensive liability he is.

I don't resent sutton at all. He was a frosh who showed up 8 weeks ago.

I certainly appreciate the hard work of Clent Stewart, and wish him the best in his new life.  He'll be a great individual and I'm sure will be successful in whatever endeavor he chooses.

That being said, he was not an impressive player, but he did play his heart out.   There were times he was good, and other times he was bad.  His play is certainly fair game.   His family issues, however, all K-Staters are with him.

KSUfans.com will become the #1 Kstate sports BBS!
Its so crazy hearing all this I was at a game and Clent got standing ovations and everything, students and faculity as well as media loved him, said he was talented, maybe he was a mess up at times, but we will miss Clent and all of our seniors, I am not one to dog any of my players but he did mess up a lot, its all good he is gone and we will miss ol' Stew.

He really should have gone to Stanford.  Anyone in any position, student athlete or not, should choose Stanford over KSU.  WTF is wrong with him?

He wanted to be close to his mother.

So really, we're the Stanford of the Midwest.

I like Stew.  He had an offer from Stanford and Vandy and still came here.  He was solid up to the end of his junior year.  This year he just didn't bring it.  He wasn't athletic enough to fit into our system and got compared to Pullen too much.  I wish him well, but we'll have a better PG lineup w/o him.

He was 116 in rivals rankings.  KSU was close to home.  The closest offer other than KSU was Tulsa.

Clent was never allowd to develop as a player because he never had a chance to play the position that he was recruited to play. He is not, and was never intended to be a point guard. He stepped into the position because Dez left a hole that had to be filled. Wooldridge and Huggins never recrutited a true point, and Clent's tenure at K-State suffered for it.

His true strength was leadership. His team respected him enough to drop everything and support him bad times. His coaches really liked him. Hell, Huggins had nothing but prais for him all of last year because he know Clent had to play out of position to fill team needs. He worked his ass off for four years, and the end result is a bunch of supposed fans bashing his every move.

My thoughts exactly.  The guy had some fantastic games in his career and yet people want to forget about that and focus only on the negative.  I loved him as a player and wish everyone on the team had his work ethic.  There is a reason he earned all that playing time all four years of his tenure here, and if you think he was not Big 12 material, you are delusional.  Huggins was not impressed with him initially last year as he was coming off a knee injury, but he kept working as hard or harder than anyone on the team, and by the time conference play rolled around, even Huggins could not deny he deserved some big minutes.

What I really don't like is that current players and potential recruits see message boards like this quite often and when they see bashing of first class players like Clent Stewart in threads like this, they would have to conclude we have a really crappy fan base.  They would certainly be asking themselves:  "Why would I want to play for fans like that?"  Bashing on current or former players is not being classy.  I don't even mind booing the other team or booing the refs, but booing your own players or bashing them on a message board is just plain stupid IMHO.

The point is that shortcomings are all K-State fans seem to talk about these days. It's not even done in a constructive way. How about thanking the guy for working his ass off to represent our university in a positive light? How about noting his achievments? His B-Ball career is over. You should thank him for his dedication to our school.

Here's another way to look at it. What if his son is the number one recruit in the nation some day? Would you encourage your kid to go to a place where you weren't appreciated, and were you were bashed by the people who were supposed to support you the most.... your "fans"?

It's ok to be an a$%, that guy over there is doing it too.

Consistency is key. You are consistently negative. It's one thing to say; "man, he had a bad night". But to say "I'm glad he's gone" is a different issue all together.

I love my almamater. I love my teams. I am a realist and I see shortcomings in of the programs that I adamantly support. I often get frustrated at what I see on the playing field, but I don't bash those that I claim to be a fan of.

I didn't realize it until I left Kansas, but K-State fans really are seen in a very negative light nationally. Beyond the simple perception of Kansas as being backwater and hickville (that goes for ku too), they see our fan base as a bunch of idiots. When I was a student in Manhattan, I thought this sentiment was reserved for angry drunken Colorado fans. I was shocked to find out that among the Big 12 fan base, that position is reserved for K-State.

You guys come on here and complain about the east coast bias, Jason Whitlock, ESPN's lack of coverage, etc... Have you ever wondered why ku, Oklahoma, and Nebraska continue to get coverage from all of those sources? It's because people around the country really don't like K-State. It sucks, but it’s true.

This has ramifications for the teams you "support". It hurts any chances of rebuilding our football and basketball programs and to sustain success. Bashing those that do make the commitment to play at K-State only perpetuates those national perceptions, and it certainly affects whether or not some recruits decide to come to Manhattan. Therefore, you are part of the problem.
